AAdvantage eShoppping by Cartera Commerce
Using, earning miles, problems, etc. (Consolidated thread)

American Airlines is not the contact for Cartera / AAdvantage eShopping .

AAdvantage eShopping FAQs and an e-contact form can be found via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom left corner of the home page.

If you have trouble getting purchases to track, there's also a browser extension to help.

Notes about Giftcards.com:
  • A separate thread exists for discussing Giftcards.com and likely has more data points than this generic thread.
  • Purchases from giftcards.com earn miles on the first $2,000 spent in the named calendar month, meaning for example between March 1st and March 31st. [Note: as of Aug 2023, the $2k limit is per order, not per purchase]
  • Giftcards.com has had various limits over the years, and it was always by calendar month.
  • Some data points show the $2,000 monthly limit is not always enforced. [Note: as of Aug 2023, the $2k limit is per order, not per purchase]
  • In 2022, larger orders track more slowly, and you may need to wait a full month to see miles. Strong advice from the thread is to make multiple small purchases (say under $300) rather than large ones to avoid the dreaded "manual review"
(Copied from the LP thread wiki): Once you click through the AAdvantage eShopping portal to a vendor offer and make a purchase, you will eventually get the associated miles posted to your AAdvantage account as both redeemable miles and Loyalty Points. If the merchant advertises an increase in the miles per dollar spent, you'll earn the higher amount in both redeemable miles and an equal number of Loyalty Points. The same applies if a merchant advertises a higher fixed amount per purchase, rather than a per dollar amount. Examples of this would appear on the portal as, "Extra miles. Was 1 mile/$. Now earn 3 miles/$" or "Extra miles. Was up to 3700 miles. Now up to 6200 miles." However, if the website advertises a "Limited-time bonus offer" for "bonus miles" after meeting a spending threshold, that bonus will only post as redeemable miles and not Loyalty Points. If a bonus is offered for some site-wide activity such as 1000 miles for installing an extension, or 500 miles for enrolling in the portal, or 2000 miles for meeting a spending threshold across multiple merchants, the bonus will only post as redeemable miles and not Loyalty Points.

Some anti-virus software silently blocks tracking, and you may want to consider disabling it for your purchase.

As I said, the new site has some mistakes. If you are buying the non-branded version and it tells you you are earning points, that's a mistake.

Go to "brands", show all, and scroll down a fair bit. Another mistake is that they will tell you that the branded one is $500 max but actually it's only $250 (unfortunately)

As I mentioned earlier today, I bought giftcards on 11/6 and 11/8. On 11/6 I earned 250 points, which I then promptly used on 11/8, and thus the purchase on 11/8 only earned me 248 new points. I just confirmed that I received those 248 points.

Yeah if you use the gmoney discount it won't give you points on the discount. So you only earn 248 instead of 250 (but the page will still tell you you are earning 250)

This is fairly minor; I'm certainly not going to complain about 2 cents.

I stayed in property in Stockholm, booked via BAAhoteles. And due to ongoing issues with them I wanted a physical receipt/proof of my stay.
They were initially hesitant to produce any, because it was prepaid.. they insisted that my receipt is the one that the OTA gave me, which we know is true.

But Thanks to this data point I pressed for the full receipt and and to told them to be sure I have absolutely no issue seeing the price they charged Agoda (the markup in this case was in the 20% vicintiy).
That i'm only saving the future hassle of trying to get the receipt later if the miles for my stay doesn't post (which of course, haven't.. but we are already too far off topic).

Yes. There is a (I think recent) bug that when you go to check out buying a Virtual Visa, the site says you are earning G-Money when in fact you are now. If you took screenshots, it may be worth protesting and who knows, maybe they will throw you some G-money. The Visa egift card version is the one that actually earns G-money.

They are offered as separate subscriptions, but also bundled together since they're owned by Disney. Interestingly enough, signing up for a more expensive bundle appears to give fewer LPs/miles than signing up for ESPN+ or Disney+ alone.
I figure that if I sign up for both of them with the same email address, that may cause issues with earning double bonuses, so I could get around that by using different email addresses.
But I don't know if Cartera would block double earnings based on the same AA FF# being credited?

Did you try this?

It seems like 1 person could get a Disney bundle through the espn link and again through the Disney link and get paid miles for both.

Sigh

Looking forward to Vilebrequin purchase not tracking correctly 😑

Edit: It tracked! Have never received a notification more than 24 hours after purchase but not complaining!

Looks like these two dropped off as well.

Anyone having an issue with receiving order tracked email after buying something at dell.com? The visit itself shows up in aadvantage eshopping portal without a transaction amount. In the past, I had to contact eshopping to get it credited when this happened occasionally but the last two orders with them are like that, no order tracked email. I am just wondering if they are having an issue.

You won't get points on whatever amount you applied a rewards balance to but you should get points for the amount you actually paid for. That's been my experience with backcountry and with purchases in general across a number of sites when I use rewards for part of a purchase.

Anyone else having problems in recent days when trying to register an address for a gc.com eGift card?

"There was a technical error that prevented us from changing your card information. Please try again later."

I think someone else complained about this. I always get the branded ones and never register them though.

giftcards.com has really good customer service. You can chat with the frontline agent and if they can't fix it you can request a callback from the relevant team. They generally call back the next day.
