Notes about Giftcards.com:
- A separate thread exists for discussing Giftcards.com and likely has more data points than this generic thread.
- Purchases from giftcards.com earn miles on the first $2,000 spent in the named calendar month, meaning for example between March 1st and March 31st. [Note: as of Aug 2023, the $2k limit is per order, not per purchase]
- Giftcards.com has had various limits over the years, and it was always by calendar month.
- Some data points show the $2,000 monthly limit is not always enforced. [Note: as of Aug 2023, the $2k limit is per order, not per purchase]
- In 2022, larger orders track more slowly, and you may need to wait a full month to see miles. Strong advice from the thread is to make multiple small purchases (say under $300) rather than large ones to avoid the dreaded "manual review"
Some anti-virus software silently blocks tracking, and you may want to consider disabling it for your purchase.

Giftcards.com is running a promo for 5% off $100 virtual Visa (not the 1% G-Money version). Promo code SCARY5. Code is not listed on eshopping site yet but historically these codes have not invalidated miles earning.
But multiplier is still at 1x, so I am on the fence pulling the trigger.

I have participated in all prior sales but I am going to sit this one out. GC.com has been slowly nerfing their sales. When they first started it was 10% off with a max value of $250. I have the ability to MS these but it only makes sense when these are somewhat negative cost to offset at least some of my liquidation costs and/or the portal payouts are higher. Else I have better plays.
The offer itself is meh.
The 1x is meh
The 1x becomes 0x with GC.com not allowing the code to be used with portals is very meh.

I wonder if we will see a holiday shopping season promo drop? Might not be nov 1, but iirc they usually drop one pretty early well before black friday? I love those promos easy free miles

MS is way beyond my risk tolerance for Citi and AA so I have no interest in that.

Ace Hardware gone again, hopefully they'll be back. Seems like they were off the portal for a few weeks last year around this time as well.

Yesterday, I see a couple major clawbacks on some Ace purchases I did in August. No idea why -- I followed all the rules.
I guess I will submit a complaint, but that never seems to get me anywhere. I think over the last two years, I am now up to 10,000 miles in clawbacks that I don't think should have happened.

Yeah I had a clawback too from tractor supply company too. They were right I used a code.
They must be running some program to catch. Also maybe take a screen shot of the promo code you’re using if it’s on their portal as a useable code.

With the promo released today:
spend $200 500 bonus miles
spend $700 2,000 bonus miles
spend $1,600 4,000 bonus miles
I am thinking that even at 1x buying some of the $100 discounted gift cards -- or, at a slightly higher cost, the $250 ones that can be used on Apple Pay -- might be worth doing. The T's and C's of the promotion exclude gift cards and other cash equivalents, but IIRC the giftcards.com purchases have counted for past redeemable miles promotions. Does anyone else remember whether those have counted in the recent past?

Frequent Miler reported the codes for the $100 gift cards are "not commissionable" and are therefore assumed to not get miles. Have not seen it confirmed, and am considering getting one to test but if someone here has a DP on that...

I will be buying some of the 250s. Even at 1X, purchased with a CITI AA card, if at the 30% bonus LP level, the result is 503RDMs and 578LPs... for $3.47 (assuming you have a giftcards.com account, and earned some g-points from your last $250).
