Aside from ignorance of the law never being a legitimate defense, I don't see why "smoking is prohibited on this flight" doesn't cover all the bases. Or alternatively, if they have to single out the lavatories, why nothing else - "Smoking is prohibited on this flight, even in the lavatories, galleys, cockpit, aisles, seats, bulkheads, coat closets, and overhead bins."
First, the literal wording that is required to be announced is stated in the law, but why? To make a long story short, congress passed a law banning smoking, and the FAA chose to add a new part to comply with it (252). The lavatory ban was existing from long before that, and was left unchanged. Why not just change the required briefing words to exclude everything? Technically, with certain restrictions, a US carrier may allow smoking on a flight that does not originate or terminate in the US, provided they meet certain requirements (have a no smoking section, etc). So Part 121 was simply amended to require explaining when smoking was permitted or not in addition to the lavatory statement. Largely pointless, but that's why.

Magazine subscription cards in the seatback pocket
When they fall out of your magazine, why leave them, instead of giving them to the FA to haul away?

Yesterday my flight from DFW-BUR arrived about 20 minutes earlier than expected and I had to wait longer than normal at the curb for my wife to pick me up.

If I was waiting at the curb with an expectation for my wife to pick me up the wait would be longer than 20 minutes. She actually might say something like when hell freezes over.

Now that they've finally fixed the "Remember my AAdvantage Number" default on AA.com, my conditioned instinct to click on the checkbox results in AA.com NOT remembering me.

Does the lack of an option for a cold but non-carbonated non-sugary caffeine drink as a complimentary beverage item go on this list?
