Out of curiosity how tall are you? I'd imagine the exit row would have more space than the other MCE rows (except the bulkhead in front, probably).

Didn't get a chance to comment on the Y seats yet, overall the flight was amazing and a great experience, (first inaugural ), however the seats definitely felt narrow, at least compared to the usual Y seat. Great pics posted by many of you and great meeting you all!

Great report!
There is a "plain" coin in the side pocket of the regular swag bag. The color coins were only given out up front.

Y is exactly what it looks like, barely wide enough for 3-3-3 seating, with two aisles that are barely wide enough to fit a backpack through. The seats are 17 inches wide, with 31 inches of pitch, essentially a 737 seat.

It also looks like AA put slimlines in Y. Yuck. Even United didn't go that far!
The AA & UA seats are comparably comfortable IMO, and I've been on both of UA's types and AA's now. None are great but none are awful. And UA did throw a huge party for the 788 introduction. It did nothing for the 789 launch, though I was on board.

A few were non-revs, FWIW.

Not really. If you recline there is part of one but you mostly have wall.

The seats are higher off the ground and the arm rests lower IMO. I definitely felt "taller" looking out the window than I did on the ANA or UA 787s.

Exit row has "infinite" leg room for B/C/J/K. A and L have the door but it is pretty far away. I'd say anything shorter than 6' 4" should be fine for legs, though there may be shoulder squeeze issues because of no window.

The IFE/C was not working properly in a few ways. Hopefully they get that sorted out soon.

Timelapse of the full flight as seen from 28A.

Short clip of takeoff roll.

Short clip of landing.

Some links go to my blog; disclosing such here per FT rules.

In the Flickr album, do you recall the seat row and # where you took pictures of the lie-flats? I am guessing it was the mini-cabin (rows 6 and 7).
It was, on the right side of the jet.

Thanks for the information on coach, all!

Did anybody happen to notice which row[s] in Y lack windows, other than the exit?

Re the bulkhead row/seats....can those seated in the window and middles get by without disturbing the person sitting in the aisle seat?

Stuart83, from my perspective, I didn't care much for my coach seat on the aisle on the right side of the aircraft. It was remarkable how often I was bumped throughout the flight. I also found it odd that while noise from the outside was remarkably quiet, the overhead fittings were terribly creaky during turbulence. With that said, the 787 Y seat beat my connecting flight seat, #32E on an MD-80, by a country mile.

So, I decided to start blogging. I'm no "One Mile at a Time" or "Points Guy" but if anyone's interested in my photos/experience. Check it out: https://chicagocollegetraveler.wordp.../787inaugural/

I gather the colored coins were handed out by a pilot for DFW-ORD. While he came around the business/first cabin for ORD-DFW he wasn't handing anything out AFAIK.

For those considering the useless Panasonic T-Mobile Wifi, beware:

Unlike Gogo, the system is too stupid to price according to flight distance. Yes, by all means, let's offer a 2 hour, 4 hour and Entire flight duration option on a 1:50 flight.
Oh yeah, love the language options: English or Portugese. LOL. GRU anyone?

When you click on Sign In, you may get a lot of this...

And even when you get to the sign in page, you'll get a lot of this...

And if you lucky enough to wade thru the multi page sign in and get to the payment page and Accept charges, you could get this...

The only time I actually got a payment accepted was on the return flight. After that however, I was unable to load a single web page. The only thing that worked, at glacial speed of course, was email. The interesting thing about the receipt is that it is a German receipt and there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTACT NUMBER. Just a head office number in Germany and bank account info. Even my LH T-Mobile receipts are more user friendly.

The only option to complain and get a refund is email.
What if you only speak Portugese?

I think I'll let Amex deal with these turkeys.
