Phoenix, the city so nice they listed it twice? That's also a downgrade on LAX-SFO which I believe is all mainline currently.

I'm pretty sure the CR900 will provide extra frequency. The existing mainline LAX-SFO on 738 will not be reduced or change. So if you don't like CR900, go with the 738 flights.

Yikes, that's a downer. One benefit of schelpping up to SFO (rather than the quick hop to SJC) for LAX connections is avoidance of the Eagle's Nest. Quicker into and more time in the FL. Hopefully it's incremental to the existing schedule rather than replacing a mainline.

Another of course is the AC but that's OT.

I'm actually trying to figure this out... going to Eagle Nest will make AA very uncompetitive on LAX-SFO and provide inconsistent service with existing mainline flights. I'm hoping they will gate all the SFO flights at T4, regardless of equipment.

It is incremental - AA will be building SFOLAX frequency. I've heard it might go to a Shuttle schedule.

That's good news, but do they have the gates for it? Or is something else being cut?

SFOLAX going over to Eagle would be horrific for punctuality as well, in addition to the Eagle's nest issue and the cramped interiors. Big :td:

The Eagle terminal is only used at about 65-70% capacity.

SFO-LAX schedule on US (mesa). Starts on Sept 3.

US2692 SFO LAX 0800 0930

That's not the answer that SFOLAX pax want to hear unfortunately, as it strongly suggests that the additional (?) frequency on the CR9 (?) would most likely park at the Nest.

That's no good at all. Unless at some point the heavies move to TBIT for good and free up some T4 gates.

That's exactly what is happening. International flights will all use TBIT starting in early 2016. If a domestic baggage carousel ends up being built at TBIT, then AA will also use TBIT for domestic flights.

Well that's good, but...I'd rather see the freed up T4 gates used for more mainline rather than Eagle service. Plus, there will still be some domestic WB service (MIA/DFW) that would hopefully be able to use a domestic TBIT carousel to keep T4 options maximized...

A pity that the place is so heavily constrained.

In my experience, Mesa has been slightly better than some of its east coast regional equivalents. Wish it were put on mainline though or some better equipment =/

Yes very constrained for now, but when all is finally done AA will have a lot of real estate to play with.

Also, AA has first dibs on 12 gates at the Midfield Concourse Terminal - those gates would replace the Eagle gates and will be mainline gates. Now that facility is quite a ways off, but it's a huge positive nonetheless.

Indeed. The little birds go to the back of the queue at SFO in irrops, and that queue includes all the little birds. We can speculate about the fine points of who gets to tuck into what slots, but this would frequently upend all of that.

The wall on the east side of the terminal with the huge mural is only "temporary". Just like US I guess to think small by saying they may not be #1 in NYC but in some markets only. I still think T8 will draw the OW airlines from T7 in its expansion since many of the airline leases in that terminal are expiring in 2015 or so. Then tear down T7 to create a new international terminal since T4 is turning into a DL terminal and T1 has the elite airlines - JAL, AF, et al.

Those are permanent? I came into those once on a BA 744. Okay, that experience was worse than the Eagle's nest. Until that turns into a real satellite terminal its just a glorified bus stand. I'm not a fan.
