MODERATOR NOTE
Good day new AA flyers and those seeking AA status through this promotion,
In the interest of keeping this thread on topic and relevant, I'd like to add some clarity for our newer AAdvantage members here. While there is a wealth of information in this thread on the promotion in question, this thread is not a help desk for questions that are readily answered in forum FAQs.
For those with questions about how the AAdvantage programme works, please start with the sticky threads at the top of the forum thread list. The FAQs especially have a lot of helpful information. If you're still stuck, and you feel you've got a "basic" question, try the Newbie Lounge. If your question is specific to one of the topics covered in our Help Desk threads, head there for answers. If a consolidated thread already exists, check there first to see if your question is answered already.
This thread will be more strictly moderated to ensure it stays on topic. We welcome all new AA flyers to the fold, but posts need to stay on topic to keep our forum organised and findable. Thanks to everyone for cooperating and understanding.

After reading the comments about the AA system update and it removing the promo code for the fast track to elite status, I decided to reach out to AA and see if they could resolve the issue before I travel on Saturday. I tweeted AA to confirm I had the promo on my account, knowing full well that it had been removed. They prompted me to call AAdvantage Account customer service, I called this morning. Called the AAdvantage customer service number, was directed to web services, who directed me back to reservations, who wanted to send me back to web services again but decided to send me to AAdvantage customer service. Finally got to talk to someone in customer service for AA accounts, however, they didn't know what the promo was and kept telling me to do it online. HUNG UP. Called again, asked for a supervisor who knew the code and promo but couldn't force it through even though I was already registered with a confirmation email. Transferred me to their PROMO SPECIALIST who saw that I had indeed registered for the promo on 8/14 and because of their system update, the code had been removed. He made notes on my account and told me after my ORD-PVG roundtrip next week, I'll be EXP. Confirmed with AA via Twitter, and the promo code is back on there.

We must have talked to the same agent;-) seriously, try back and ask the agent to talk to a supervisor and tell them you have a work colleague who had this fixed today after getting the same 10 day story twice in the past. The agent literally said "the supervisor has added you to a batch that is going over for updating tonight.". And 30 minutes later my status was upgraded to EXP.
I can only hope that I get the 30 minute treatment

Today, I spoke to the AAdvantage Supervisor who told me that American Airlines has unilaterally change the fast track promotion and will not honor its promise to grant status and benefits immediately upon reaching the 12,000 and 30,000 mile levels. Also the 100% bonus for Plat and ex plat would not be available until my elite status had been changed, and then only for Future flights. I asked how could AA renege on its promise, and destroy the trust and good will it had attempted to build. She responded that because I was able to reach Platinum and Executive Platinum status faster than others and I should not complain.

This post requires some clarification, b/c some of the issues do not seem any different than the expectations/processing associated with "normal" qualification.
Status was never granted "immediately" It takes a couple of days to refresh - and, given the recent system updates, a lot of things are out of whack (e.g., I have flights from 11/21 that still read "transaction pending") Did she state a specific timeline?
Also did she say AA has "unilaterally changed" the promotion or b/c your status has not updated in a timely fashion you have decided this to be the case.
I'm not sure I understand. The 100% is only applicable once you achieved PLT so this is consistent w/normal qualification. You earn 0 bonus for flights from 0 - 25K, then 25% bonus on flights from 25K - 50K, and then 100% from 50K on. AA has never then "gone back" and added the 100% bonus to the first 50K miles (well, 100% for the 1st 25k miles, then an add'l 75% for 25K-50K.
If she indeed said this, then I hope you wrote her name down, and will send a brief note to AA addressing the incident. This is not good customer service.

AA explained to me that when I earn Plat status I would get a 100% mileage bonus to include the flight on which I reached the Plat status level. When I reached gold status I received a 25% bonus for the flight on which I reached gold status.

The Supervisor said AA had changed the terms because of computer problems. The email promotion confirmation I received said that status and benefits would change immediately, upon the attainment of a status level.

As for the timeline, she said it would take 10 days from the flight date.

As for the 100% mileage bonus: the complaint is that on the PLT threshold flight, you will only get the 25% GLD bonus, not the 100% Plt bonus. I would wait until you status updates and then email AA addressing two things:
1) request the add'l 75% miles for the PLT threshold flight
2) note that the supervisor was not polite when she stated you "should not complain" b/c it was a fast track offer

Hadn't yet seen my 500 mile stickers post and was curious, called AAdvantage just now. They confirmed that I was still registered for this promo (it wasn't dropped during the upgrade) and they manually deposited the stickers to my account. No stories, no nonsense - the AAgent knew about the promo and wished me luck on getting to EXP!

Similar situation here. Hit GOLD months ago and was updated within 2 days. Now I completed my flights to hit PLT 2 weeks ago, nothing changed. Finally call AA CS today, agent doesn't see my promo. I forwarded him my confirmation E-mail showing the thresholds, he still can't do it. He then put in a service ticket and will be back to me in 24 hours.

Thanks for the link. That's crazy.
I called last week and was told I wasn't registered. I merely asked the agent to explain then how I was Gold with so few miles? I was put on hold briefly and they magically found it. I asked to be confirmed to Platinum immediately and for them to credit me with my missing 500 mile upgrades. They did so and gave me an extra 4 for the trouble ^ YYMV

Just booked that flight, a trip out to LHR, so I'm certainly excited. Only wish I could use two of my SWUs in advance and only have 6 deposited for next year, but I'm sure that's not going to happen!

Just tweeted AA, and they replied me that "We're not showing the promo code listed in either account. Please call AAdvantage Customer service at 800-882-8880 for assistance. They're open 9a-5:30p m-f ct."
Need to call in the morning!
