AA websites uses "and/or", so I ask experts here

Hi guys, checked the FAQ as well as AA website, can't find a definitive answer so I'm asking the experts here.

OW Emerald on a domestic AA flight can check-in one or two bags for free? AA website uses "First and/or Second Luggage" so it's a bit ambiguous.

Thanks.

All oneworld elites are entitled to two free checked bags on an AA domestic flight.

how is this ambiguous? Are you saying that AA might charge for the first bag, but not for the 2nd?

Not to split hairs, but if we're going to flame the guy for asking what seems a legitimate question and actually doing his research ahead of time, then...yeah, I think that's what the language actually suggests. Read literally, that could mean: you pick which one you pay for if you check two (which in some parallel universe could actually matter--think different charges for 1st v. 2nd bag, weight restrictions, etc). Point is the guy did his research then asked what he judged to be a legitimate question. I'd cut him some slack.

Actually, I didn't mean to come off as harsh. (A pretty poor 100th post in retrospect.) I was just genuinely curious as to what the confusion was about.

I though the OP was a legitimate question as well, since AA's wording is poor. This is the same website that describes the relationship with Hawaiian airlines as follows:

Earn miles on Hawaiian Airlines within the Hawaiian Islands and redeem miles between the U.S. and Hawaii
(my bolding)

Kind of hard to fly between the US and Hawaii when Hawaii is already part of the United States! (Yes the obviously intended to say the continental US, but still, the sentence as written is nonsensical. It would be like saying I can walk between my house and my house.)

In fact the Hawaiian Airlines section twice uses the "between the US and Hawaii" wording.
