The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

Cod was really dry. However couldn’t complain as I was hungry. Snack basket came out 1 hour prior to arrival. Cookie was given shortly after meal was cleared

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

I have had similar experiences. My wishful thinking was this is just a covid issue. I actually had two flight attendants start screaming at each other in the first class area and one stormed off saying curse words. Alaska listens basically thanked me for my loyalty and wished me a better flight next time.
I miss the days when you had to turn away drinks. When the FA acted like they were making a commission of them…

I assume the cookies are only available on flights with some type of meal service (beyond the snack basket) although I did have them once on SJC-PDX which wasn't long enough for meal service.

The cutoff is the cutoff. If they moved the cutoff to 8:30pm, I'm sure there would be similar complaints from pax booked on 8:40pm flights.

Just had the beef sandwich flavor was really good but really could use another strip of beef as there wasn’t much there. Side salad was 3 bites but the balsamic was great.

Lime salad was blah nothing exciting. I’d post pictures of both but it says I need to post 5 times before I’m able to do that...

Today on MCO-SAN, had the Miso Soy Cod. Portion size was good. Cod was buttery and warm, and the miso flavor was apparent, but not so much on the soy. Rolls were soft and heated as well, I really like the pull apart dinner roll situation. Snow peas still had a crisp crunch but were cooked. Strawberry Custard cup deal was great, strawberries were sweet and not very sour.

If you like fish, it’s a winner in my eyes.

I agree...looks like a winner in my book....the only thing that is begging to be swapped out are those grains as a side...this meal definitely is crying out for a serving of garlic mashed potatoes....yum.

5/15/21 LAX-SEA 0600 departure.

Breakfast Wrap. It was quite good. I'd have it again. Heck, I'd pay for this back in coach.

Well it didn't take long for the infamous egg salad wrap to make it's way back into First Class...what was it...maybe a week? Does this mean the crossaint sandwich is now for sale in coach or did it really get replaced entirely after a week of "new" meals?

I haven't been in F on the first flight out of Burbank in the morning in forever (cannot get an upgrade to/from SEA these days), but this looks way better than what they used to double cater on that flight.

As I've noted in my past Burbank posts, the double catered breakfasts on RON flights can be grim.

I have the croissant sandwich option coming up next week. Still on the fence since I'm not crazy about hard boiled eggs, and the trusty F&C plate is another option. Decisions, decisions...

Moderator Note

A few comment/opinion posts have been moved to AS First Class Catering - Comments, Criticisms, Suggestions and Service Experiences - FlyerTalk Forums. This very active thread, like I Got/Didn't Get MVP/Gold/75K Upgrade on AS (2021) - FlyerTalk Forums, is primarily intended to capture just data points.

When I get some time, I will add Wikiposts to both threads to try to make this goal a bit clearer.

The FA made a point not to overcook the chicken and the flight had great service.
