Alaska Airlines (AS) partnership with Singapore Airlines (SQ)

Earning

Beginning September 27, 2017.
For earning rates See Partner Page

Eligible flight numbers (No Silkair)

0001–0999

Burning:

Award Charts:
(see note below for definition of "Continental USA", "SE Asia" and "South Pacific" )
SE Asia-SE Asia: 17,500 Y, 25,000 J 35,000 F
North Asia-SE Asia: 22,500 Y 60,000 J, 75,000 F
SE Asia-Middle East/India 25,000 Y 65,000 J 85,000 F
SE Asia-South Pacific 30,000 Y 65,000 J 90,000 F
SE Asia-Europe 42,500 Y 110,00 J 160,000 F
North Asia-Europe 65,000 Y 175,000 J 240,000 F
Middle East-Europe 60,000 Y, 160,000 J 210,000 F
Continental USA-North Asia: 40,000 Y 80,000 J 110,000 F
Continental USA-SE Asia/India: 47,500 Y 100,000 J 130,000 F
Continental USA-South Pacific 70,000 Y 145,000 J 190,000 F

Note: Chart only allows contiguous US and Alaska as "USA", however, AS connecting flights to Hawaii/Canada/Mexico are allowed. No chart for USA-Europe (though in theory you could redeem SIN-USA or USA-SIN routing on SQ onestops involving Europe and get off the plane in FRA/MAN, pretty high price in miles though). Stopover in SIN not allowed on regional awards (Intra-Asia,including South Pacific) not touching US.
"North Asia" includes China (PEK/PVG) as per latest update by AS. South Pacific is Australia/New Zealand

Just looked in the SQ forum (to see if they're as excited), but no mention of it. The SQ website hasn't announced either. But, I did notice they were partners with VX, so makes sense if SQ was getting value from that one. Virgin Australia, Hawaiian, and Emirates were the others, so not likely any more from the merger since QF is already a partner, and Virgin Australia is in kahoots with DL.

Would we be able to earn and redeem miles on Silk Air flights?

Yep this SQ/AS partnership makes perfect sense. The backstory of the SQ/VX partnership is basically SQ wanted a more premium airline to feed into their flights instead of their frenemy UA. VX made perfect sense since it was positioned as a more premium brand and also connected to most of their flights (SFO, LAX, and JFK).

They (SQ) made a decision a few years back to limit their relationship with major frenemy and *A partner UA and so they started codesharing with B6 and VX (and now AS) for feed and continuing flights in the US.

How so? SQ is notoriously stingy with award availability in premium cabins.

I think this will have extremely limited utility for most people.

I know I'm not "most people" particularly on this site, but I've done their Y on an intra-Asia flight and would be more than happy to sit in the back once again.

You won't get any miles with Alaska.

Note the only flights that allow accruals:

Eligible flight numbers

0100–0699
0800–0999

SQ 1 and SQ 31 are the only SQ flights from SFO and both are below the eligible flight ranges.

Guessing that's a typo or copy-paste mistake on the web page. It's happened before with new partners.

Just woke up and saw the press release in my inbox ^.

Suites is one product I'd like to try... so am cautiously optimistic about the partnership. And as others mentioned... *A... wow

Will be interesting to see how this unfolds- hope we keep CX...

Yeah I noticed that. Surely it must be a mistake, no? The SQ flights out of LAX are SQ 7 and SQ 11. It would seem crazy if AS excluded every partner flight from any of its hubs.

My guess is that 0100 is supposed to be 01 or 0001.

It's the first day the page is up.

Hopefully it evolves.

The 6 lowest fare classes in Y also seem to be excluded.

Oh boo!! One of these days I was going to do a rev fare on SQ, and would have liked to earn on AS instead of UA. Oh well, still a nice partner for Alaska.

This is great news! SQ's PE to TYO from west coast had usually been ridiculously low compared to others and 100% earning now on AS.

ETA: and I see from everyone's posts outside of the earning flight range Hopefully that's a typo but seems like a biggie for an announcement.

JFK is SQ 25/26 and IAH is SQ 51/52 so as it's written now it literally excludes every single US flight that SQ flies which seems crazy.

Yeah I assumed that would make it worthless as a partner for anything other than PE or better, but the W fares (50% earning) are not as bad as I thought.

For example, SQ31/32 is $978 RT in Oct for a W fare from SFO to SIN. UA 1/2 isn't much cheaper on those dates (low $800s)...the only airline that's a lot cheaper is CZ via CAN (high $600s).
