Perks

Chauffeur Drive NOT Available
Car service is not available for all Business Class and First Class passengers on Alaska Airlines ticketed award tickets on Emirates flights (as of Jan 2015). The chauffeur will not confirm if you use the EK website for this, though the website makes it look you can make a reservation.

Lounges
Access is available for all passengers traveling in Business and First Class. Not all cities have lounges and many may be operated by a Partner. There have been some reports of people having an issue accessing the Dubai lounges as the tickets may appear in their system as non-revenue employee travel. This is not as much of a problem as it used to be but in case it comes up please advise the lounge attendant that you are on an Alaska Airlines award.

Dubai Connect

AS Awards on EK do not qualify for Dubai Connect, which is the service that offers the free hotel.

Tricks to find Transoceanic availability

Instead of performing a blanket, i.e. SEA-DXB search, perform: SEA-MED.
Madinah is a destination that is only served by EK. Consequently, if there is availability, only EK will show up in the calendar results.

If you click on the Terms and Conditions link you'll see:

Chauffeur-drive service is not available on reward tickets booked via Emirates Skywards airline partners for travel on Emirates (with the exception of Qantas).

Does anyone have experience with EK releasing Bangkok F award space to Dubai last minute? Flights are wide open right now but they aren't releasing much space at all in March according to ExpertFlyer. Trying to grab two seats on the 8:40pm flight.

Not sure about BKK but I saw EK released Z space as close as T-1 or even T-0 for ex-USA or ex-Far East flights. This was Dec/Jan, not sure if it remains the same now.

HUCA Worked!

Just another data point in terms of calling and having them book via the old system. Thankfully, it took me just two calls to book two award tickets for January 2016, routing MLE-DXB-IAH. Z space was not available on the MLE-DXB leg (only economy), but there was Z space that I saw on ExpertFlyer for the DXB-IAH leg. 2nd agent I spoke to was able to confirm it. I didn't even have to ask her to check via the old system. I simply explained that I had seen Z space available, but had trouble seeing it and booking it online.

I'll keep monitoring as we get closer in to see if business or first opens on the MLE-DXB leg. But needless to say, still very excited. Especially since we also get to experience F on Cathay, routing SFO-HKG-MLE, on the way there (with a few days in Hong Kong, and then a separate side trip that I booked to Cambodia to go to Angkor Wat).

The information in this thread was very helpful to us securing these flights!

Just had success booking LAX-DXB-PVG for May 11...and it only took one call! I called at around 640pm ET and got "Rose" in Seattle. She couldn't have been more friendly. I asked for Emirates first and she said she could only see coach. Without me asking, she said she was going to try something only the "old-timers" know to do -- manually request it. A few moments later, a confirmation came back.

I'm super-excited! Thanks to all of the posters here who offered their experience (and encouragement)!

1. Too early.
2. No change fees when travel is more than 60 days away.

I think one end has to be in North America. That is all Alaska allows.

Just a data point: saw availability for SFO-DXB in May, but the first two agents couldn't find any F space (but found J space that shouldn't exist) and denied the existence of an alternate way to search.

The third agent was in Boise and she immediately knew how to deal with this. She asked for the flight number and passenger details at one go, put me on hold, and came back with the good news.

"I asked for the passenger details as I had to contact Emirates to confirm the space, but I had to grab it immediately so having the name made things easier"

Thanks for the data point. Out of curiosity, what time of the day did you call?

Here is a somewhat long winded article with sound advice
about how to find Emirates F space using Alaska miles:

http://www.milevalue.com/how-to-book...yond-march-28/

The gist is to use a service like Expert Flyer to find Z seats, and then
talk the partner desk into looking for that seat using the "old system"

And this is a somewhat long winded thread that says the exact same thing and has multiple data points to back it up .
