A lot of people really got their Underoos bunched up in a knot over this.

And rightly so. You don't call out the "technical issues" quickly then they have a tendency to stick around permanently.

Exactly - a “technical issue” could mean that “we technically regret doing an underhanded no notice devaluation”, and now they will go back to figuring out how to do said devaluation without being called out for lack of transparency.

I guarantee they have metrics on the number of tickets purchased at the elevated rates versus a similar period at the correct rates.

I alerted One mile at a time on Saturday about this to see if he can get clarification from his Alaska contract. His contact gave him half truth only. For example: on Friday, I managed to book J condor BKK-YYZ for 85K (a lot of dates available through out the calendar).
on Saturday, i tried but it was 130K for same class same route (same as days priced at 85K before). So came here and messaged OOMAT. Today (after OOMAT said "alaska said just glitch"), price is at 375K for days that were available at 85K before. It's insane. Can't tell me ALL multiple days through out the year (there were a lot) are all scooped up. Alaska is so dissappointing.

PS: hope it's ok that i alerted OOMAT. I figured he can get clarification from his contact. Not even sure if he read my message. But hope it's ok with the folks here.

I also think it speaks to the decreasing level of trust many have in Alaska over the recent changes or "enhancements" they've announced.

Unless the technical issue allowed us to book TATL J awards for 25k points… then it would be fixed in no time and the tickets canceled.

Are they reaching out to people who booked overpriced tickets during the technical glitch phase to refund them the difference?

Error is always in the house's/bank's favor. I would be shocked if AS reaches out with refunds. Even if they had the data, which is a long shot - they don't seem to have the customer service culture anymore.

It' seems that most of the AS Atmos FT community has been pacified that there was a technical glitch that has been resolved. In the recent past, I would expect to see some occasional one-way business class awards between LAX-BKK or BKK-LAX for 85K Atmos points on Starlux. Haven't seen any in the past week. Between JFK-BKK or BKK-JFK, one-way business class awards would occasionally be available for 85K Atmos points on Condor or Finnair. Haven't seen any of those lately either. Of course others may have different experience and have had recent success to find and book these awards, but availability seems to have changed. Itineraries between North America and Southeast Asia seem to be flooded with Qatar Airways awards (mostly in economy), and there are occasional Japan Airlines awards in business class for 110K Atmos points for 1-way.
Are business class awards between North America and Southeast Asia for 85K points one-way still a thing within the Atmos award chart, or have these been eliminated? Maybe still a technical glitch? Maybe just a recent random award pull-back from Alaska Air? It would be nice to know of some booking success stories for 85K business class awards between North America and Southeast Asia in the past week.

For one thing, everyone and their uncle is avoiding the ME3 sandpits while missiles and drones are being lobbed around. That's going to send people chasing awards to JX, DE and AY.

That rationale is sensible, but doesn't really address what Atmos releases. If that is true, then fine. It would be preferable to have confirmation from others who had award booking success on non-ME3 airlines for the select NA-SE Asia routes in business class, avoiding missiles and drones. There have been changes to displayed Atmos award availability, supposedly due to a glitch. Ideally it would be nice to know if that has been fixed, why some awards at previous prices don't seem to be available.
Either way, I won't suffer. I have already booked a fall trip in 2026 and a trip in 2027 to Southeast Asia on ANA and Cathay Pacific in business and first class. My goal was to better understand the Alaska Air Atmos award landscape, because I really like Starlux Airlines business class (at 85K Atmos points) and was interested in trying Condor sometime.

I see various BOS-Europe for 22.5K.

Atmos releases exactly zero awards NYC-BKK or LAX-NKK because they fly zero planes to BKK. What makes you think AS has any control over another airline's saver award inventory offered to them?

JX controls what JX releases to AS. AY controls what AY releases to AS. DE controls what DE releases to AS. If you don't want to be dependent on partner awards where AS gets the leftovers a partner deigns to give them, don't solely acquire AS miles.
