Flight Attendant Devices and Elite Recognition
I don't think Alaska folks carry the mobile device anymore either. I used to be recognized on almost every flight as a 75K/Platinum. That has not happened even once in the last 10-15 flights.
First world whine.

watched 3 different FAs have a completely different approach on one of my recent flights and just could not get over the fact that its still so haphazard. Its nearly 2026 for crying out loud and somehow we still have frontline employees who look like theyre seeing a smartphone for the first time in their lives. Absolutely insane.

Oh they know who you are even before you board the aircraft. As a 100K the past three years, the most times I was "welcomed" was during the MAX issues. but since then zilch.
Today though, because of the ATC mess, this was at my seat waiting for me at 2A

Not bad
The thing that always gets me with the chocolates is the look on some of their faces. on a recent flight, the attendant at some point realized she missed a bunch of people before getting to my row. you would think that would be a hint to stay on top of it for future rows.
but no…it's like she suddenly remembered it, made the most over the top gesture to unlock the iPhone, then went back and forth between the screen and the seat signs in the aisle to make sure that she had the right seat, and then handed it to me without even attempting to pronounce my name correctly. still have no clue what purpose the "preferred name" field in the profile is for, as I have never, ever had an FA use it.
and frankly i couldn't care about their platform preferences. just do your damn job.

I have a friend that is a flight attendant, and he makes it sounds like it's one of the most difficult jobs you can do.
Somehow if it's that difficult, I don't think we would see very many high seniority, 60 year old female flight attendants doing this job.

I actually spent some time on a flight a few weeks ago asking how things looked on the devices. The crew more than indulged me on it. It only shows Alaska status on the seat summary screen, for an example I had a little "T" in the corner to show I was a Titanium. American and OneWorld status apparently doesn't show on the seat map screen. My coworker flying next to me also had the T, and the crew already knew we were the only 2 Titaniums on the flight. But they could click the seat and see more about me, if I had a connecting flight wherever it was we were landing, and Million Miler and OneWorld status if I had it. They said the Elite Tier overrides MM on the main seat screen.
Then they quickly went through the other things they can do, the script generated for the PA announcements with the flight info merged into it, how they do transactions for people in the back that wanted to buy something, etc.
So, the tech works... now if the crew decides to use the tools given to them is a different matter.
