Perhaps AS is adopting HA's practice for upgrades on interisland flights. GA print upgrade boarding passes just before boarding, old boarding pass won't scan, GA provides the upgraded one. Highly undesirable from a customer perspective, simplifies life for GAs, allows revenue management more time to work their magic, sell empty F seats before issuing to elites.

It's all one list. The checkbox graphic is different for people moved to FC vs. PC plus you can obviously tell by the seat number.

Not that any of these matter because in my experience, the list becomes useless once it goes under gate agent control and entire swathes of passengers disappear off it after they've been upgraded.

Is the professor on leave this week? My flight was I5 all week with no upgrades until the gate. I saw similar reports posted elsewhere.

Same here. 11 open in F for 3 days, showing $200 upgrades that never fluxed. I was +1 & 2 and just waited it out until literally 45 minutes before boarding. Finally got cleared as they were calling first class. Totally wild.

I see it too. 10/16 open for days, $330 unchanged. Hope we don’t have to deal with it at the gate.

It was the same for me. 7 pax upgraded at the gate. The professor must be out of town.

Still at J5 U0 for a short hop this evening. $100 bites for an upgrade still available.

Seems like a good thing if there's no more last minute cheap cash upgrades to the U buckets which sit open <T-24

If I had no status nor credit card and a couple of bags to check, it is a cheap cash upgrade .

Here is how it went down. At the gate (where there are no screens showing UG and WL status / seat assignments, and no UG announcements to come to the podium), I checked the app, which showed no paid UGs available, F seatmap full, and we were still 1 and 2 on the WL showing us "upgraded" into the row 6 seats we've had for months. I went up to the gate agent to ask what happened. She didn't even want to look up the reservation - told me "it runs automatically." I asked again as I wondered what happened to the 6 (it went up from 5 earlier) F seats that were available a few minutes ago, with us still 1 and 2 on the WL. She then asked my name, and told me we were in row 2. No new BP issued, I refreshed the app again, and we were then showing on the UG WL as in those F seats. Notwithstanding this and a couple more refreshes, the BPs still showed Row 6. It took a few more refreshes and a few more minutes before the BPs updated. OO FA was great.

I wonder what happened to the other 4 seats in F after you took the first two seats?

They also eventually appeared as upgraded on the app. So, there was a delay between processing and showing on the app (and then a further delay in updating the BP), no announcements, no airport screen displays, and no way to know anything had happened in real time.

At T-24 space was being released for upgrades except for the last 2 seats. It seems this is no longer the case (again). Lovely.

It works well if you paid for F and want to switch.

I'm in a frenzy over my upcoming flight. I may have to walk up to the gate to announce being on the waitlist.
