My flight tomorrow is still J7 and I see 13/16 seats open in the seat map. No upgrade yet despite
I’m hoping this is some sort of glitch, or maybe they intentionally make the processor (much) less generous after a holiday weekend? This is a flight up the west coast in more of a leisure market, in which usually I find myself upgraded 5 days out fwiw. |

I noticed a bunch of U space showed up about a week ago... upgraded my entire family of 4 on SEA-MCO during the busy holiday travel period next month so maybe they felt like they needed to claw back some of that U space now...lol.

I watched the gate agent reference her phone back and forth while typing into the computer just before our upgrade cleared. I take that to mean the process is completely manual this week. It's not a change to the algorithm, rather the processor is just not running. I think it's an outage rather than the new norm and wouldn't get too worked up about it.
Other than not being able to reserve a meal, it's not that bad. As someone else mentioned, it makes it easier to change flights, and it's more likely a PNR with two passengers will clear if they wait and release it all at once. I wouldn't be upset if they permanently shortened the upgrade windows. |

AS typically slows the UG professor for major holidays so as to support IRROPS, last minute sales or full fare upgrades, SDCs, and now buy-ups. 🤙🏻🍹

We were #1 and #2 for five seats from the time of booking all the way up to T-1.5 hours. All of a sudden, all five seats were gone and the five people below us were gone from the list. Two sets had what looked like the same last name so it wasn't a case of opening one seat at a time. Indeed, on board, the people in those seats were clearly couples and by the giddiness, were not used to being upgraded. I asked the GA and she kept peering quizzically at her screen, trying to figure out what happened. She couldn't. They were upgraded (no buy up) and skipped over us and even she said something fishy happened as I had higher status than any of them, plus I had used a GGU on the next segment (less than a 4 hour connection). This is my home airport with only 2 or 3 AS flights per day and I know all the GA's very well. There was nothing she could do at that point but clearly something weird happened. It was a very short flight so no big deal but this isn't the first time I've been skipped over and shouldn't have been.

Apparently an upgrade cleared for 5 days out, so some things are moving again.

11 battleground upgrades on RNO-SEA at 6am. lol

Found another "issue" - this one was from an IRROPS scenario getting back from ORD yesterday so take with a grain of salt: my wife and I were booked on the same PNR, battleground upgrade for just me (first time they split our reservation and upgraded just one of us without asking).
Flight is delayed nearly the whole day...after the first of a few rolling delays, our seat assignments disappear and we were told they downgraded me to accommodate other cancelled flights' paying F passengers...all good. But now we're no longer on the upgrade waitlist and others continue to be upgraded. Talked to the gate agent, they couldn't add us despite manually overriding multiple times. GAs called central internal AS desk and that desk said there was nothing they could do. I guess once you're upgraded, IT couldn't then add you back to the waitlist after a downgrade. It absolutely should be able to, and I admit I'm just salty because there were ~3 on the waitlist who then cleared after our seats were wiped away. 2,500 miles for the issue :( |
