If the pax are being duplicated, I wouldn’t trust the integrity of the list order or processing.

Duplication happened to me recently, where the pax below me was duplicated to #1 and #3 and I was bumped to #2, and they were upgraded to the sole remaining FC seat; however the GA saw this and reversed it.

If you see something wrong, please report it to Customer Care so the appropriate team can investigate. We can’t begin to sober up anteater the upgrade professor until we report the failures.

Now seem the upgrade could be reversed. But would the 82008 or phone agent intervene or it always go to the gate agent?

I don’t know what the policy is.

I have had a couple of instances where upon contacting AS Res and they recognized the error but would only look into it for future reference (not correct it). In my specific case of the GA and supervisor, they decided to rectify the error. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well at least they were willing to rectify the issue.

But giving GAs the ability to downgrade also bothers me a bit. If GAs know the rules, great, 100% positive. But if not done correctly, who would they pull off? Would they open the UG list and pull the lowest tier with upgrade or just a random guy, e.g., who happened to check in last (iirc I've read about a case like this)

Well, to re-emphasize, the GA only performed the rectification after investigating with and receiving approval from the supervisor. AFAIK, AS hasn't published any information on downgrade procedures so it's all FF reported data points.

I’m at less than 24 hours before the flight and the app wants to charge me for a PE seat.

Chatted reservations and they claim that just like for F, PE is an “upgrade list” and the fact that I’m being asked to pay simply means that there isn’t available space. Is that really the case? The wording on AS.com is ambiguous enough that I can imagine this to be true, but I definitely don’t remember this being a thing years ago.

Not that I even need the seat as I’m currently in the exit row which costs just $8 less for non-MVP, but if this is a bug and not a feature, what’s the proper way to report it?

What’s your applicable elite status on the reservation (AS/AA/OW)?

Also, which specific flight?

AS MVP (it’s in my profile I think?) for today’s AS295.

It looks like a system bug then. There are several PE seats available.

You could try calling again and getting a more helpful agent, paying for it out of pocket and seeking reimbursement from Customer Care, or arriving to the airport early and having the GA assign you a seat.

🤙🏻🥃

Maybe AS is following DL and officially make PE 'an upgrade' instead of seat selection?

James may know more on this, but AS technically considers it an upgrade and the fee is waived with your elite status.

For OPs flight I just tried to select a PE seat as a 100K and as an MVP, and it did not charge under either account.

Double negative is confusing. Did it want to charge you?

Just tried on both the website and app with less than 7 hours to go and it still wants to charge the fee. Bonkers.

Typo, no mai tai yet. I corrected it to reflect that it did not attempt to charge for the seat selection.

Additionally, you can call Customer Care now or post-trip and ask them to open a ticket so it can be investigated (and hopefully go toward fixing the bug).

Haven't run into the PE upgrade list for a long time, AA/UA is pretty much just 'seat selection' at check-in.

My wife and I recently got upgraded unskippingly, #2-3 of 24 with 4 seats in F at T-23.

And here, I thought you were a rather skippingly sort of gent!
