I am in absolute shock. Flying late afternoon on Monday, Oct. 2,2023 SEA-ANC. I checked my booking earlier tonight and am already moved to F! Almost 5 days out. The DEN-SEA flight before that is already sold out in F.

Is U Space (Complimentary Upgrade) the same as N space (MVP Gold Guest Upgrade)? The reason I ask is that I see Gold Guest Upgrade at the 120 hr mark and was wondering if the UP is in misfire mode? Anyway, I went back to my reservation and I am booted out out of my Premium Seat and see I can now select a seat in First at 120 hr mark so everything is good.

Just got the email that my ANC-SEA leg tomorrow was upgraded to FC. That's great!
I also received an email for a totally different passenger on the same flight who happens to share my first name letting them know they had been upgraded as well. Got their full name, itinerary, confirmation code, everything... Pretty big (and bad) goof to make... Going to call CS here after my coffee kicks in to confirm everything. |

N is just a lower economy fare bucket that qualifies Gold and above for PC at booking and any GGUs if U space is available. |

Perhaps have CC open a case to investigate (and fix) the failure too.
Wondering if the other me also got two emails and if they did I hope they don't do anything fishy with my confirmation code! The agent stated they could change or cancel/refund the flight with just that info and that scammers do it all the time... seems like a good spot for some form of 2FA. |

Same thing happened to me about a year ago. Received two UG emails, one for me and one for another passenger. I could access ticket info with conf code and last name at checkin time. I sent an email to CC, and received a response thanking for the submission, assurance I wouldn’t be able to change/cancel and a $75 cert. 100 percent sure I could have CX’d the other passenger’s tix.

I wonder how the first name would play any role in sending out emails (other than as part of the email body, maybe). Very strange bug if that name match isn’t a coincidence.

For a 06:30 AM flight with J1, the upgrade professor was drunk, tired, or both — as at T-70 minutes, it ran and upgraded #2 on the WL. After speaking with the GA, I discovered that as a 100K at #1 I had been skipped and the OWS (AA Plat) received the upgrade. The GA was able to reverse it and upgrade me manually.
Also, the professor was definitely malfunctioning because #2 was duplicated on the list at #1 and #3, pushing me to #2 and then I was duplicated to #6 as well, out of 5 pax. |

Wait, what? You got a GA to reverse an upgrade that had been processed days ago?! That's.... unprecedented IME. Glad to hear the right thing (tm) happened in the end, but just WOW.

I see some duplicate problems but does that affect the actual process?
During the past few months, I've seen a few cases, probably 10%, that upgrade processor seems skip passengers. |

During the past few months, I've seen a few cases, probably 10%, that upgrade processor seems skip passengers. If the pax are being duplicated, I wouldn’t trust the integrity of the list order or processing. Duplication happened to me recently, where the pax below me was duplicated to #1 and #3 and I was bumped to #2, and they were upgraded to the sole remaining FC seat; however the GA saw this and reversed it. If you see something wrong, please report it to Customer Care so the appropriate team can investigate. We can’t begin to sober up 🤙🏻🥃 |
