We took a road trip last May and the place we stayed at the first night had one. The pancakes were very good, much better than what one gets out of the waffle machines.

On our return trip we stayed at the same place. The pancake machine was gone as it was broken and was replaced by two waffle machines.

SEA? LAX? Its never in operating shape when I arrive. I usually find someone in the BR to fix it for me.

Always saying stuff like "Pancake Load Letter" and "Bag?" and god knows what else.

Well that's fixable I think - 'bag' probably indicates that its empty...

Not sure what was wrong with the one in ANC...

Maybe I should also add that when i say 'broken', i really mean its almost never ready for a user to come up and push a pancake button during the hours indicated. Agents have been able to fiddle with it for other issues to get it to work. Its like a finicky printer that gets random paper jams and requires paper to be loaded....except unlike the office, i cant really fix it myself.

Y'all know that the fact that this thread has reached six pages means it should probably be in the FT newsletter, right?

As a side note, a short story from earlier. My wife and I walked past the BR on our way to D7 in SEA this afternoon, and I'm telling her about the pancake machine (even called it a game changer), and she's laughing at me, and I'm like..."what? it's awesome. I don't see you having free pancakes at 6am on a Tuesday in the airport."

Needless to say, she has warmed up to the idea and I think is a little jealous of my travel habits, if only for the ability to get pancakes - not the volume of flights I take.

Totally. And I think I was more than amused that you hit the button more than 1-2 times, too. W00t.

steering away from pancakes for the moment, I read that American is going to close the Admiral's club at SJC. Seems like it would be a great opportunity for a Board Room there, if only AS could swap terminals with AA.

I asked my kids if they wanted pancakes and they said no. I couldn't figure out how anybody could resist the pancake machine? Then I realized pancakes magically appear on their plates at home without having to lift a finger let alone push a button.
