Possible glitch in online upgrades
My wife, daughter and I have a booking to LAX next month in Y (all on one PNR). When I booked, it had all the info on my wife and daughter already in the system, as they are both on my gifting register. When I went to upgrade, though (and I tried using both RUs and standbys), only my daughter and I were able to be upgraded. A statement said "Not all passengers on this booking can be upgraded as some are not on the gifting register". My wife is my GE partner, for goodness sake, and she was clearly on the register when booking. Is it a possible glitch that it doesn't include GE Partners on the upgrade list? Anyone else experienced this? |
I've not had issues with requesting upgrades for my GE partner, both for recognition upgrades or for oneup (getting the bid accepted is a different matter).

I've noticed multiple oddities on the NZ (UK) website in the past few weeks, such as:
- Not offering a split NZ1/NZ5 NZ2/NZ itinerary LHR-LAX-AKL, until a few days ago (the primary reason for choosing a split itinerary is it can save over £1,000 in premium classes or can be the difference between getting an upgrade or now) - Not offering PE on LHR-HKG-AKL for CX/NZ, although there is clearly availability seen on other websites - Selling VS-NZ combinations with a PE search, when the VS leg is in economy and this isn't clear until the payment stage by looking at the flight choices at the top (the fare description calls it "global premium economy saver"). |
How to check NZ PNR online?
I'm new to this part of FT, so apologies if this has already been answered (but I couldn't find it on a quick search).
A friend is flying TPAC from North America on NZ, but I strongly suspect they missed their flight, as the connecting flight in North America was delayed (according to Amadeus/FlightStats) leaving only a few minutes to transfer. I have their PNR and eticket details, and wanted to look it up online, to see if/how they've been re-routed and hence what their ETA is. However, the "View, change or cancel a booking" option at www.airnewzealand.co.nz is refusing to show the reservation (although as far as I'm aware, the 'Accessing Bookings Online' conditions are still met). Are NZ bookings viewable directly on a GDS website? (I tried, but failed, on places like www.virtuallythere.com, www.checkmytrip.com, etc - I am not sure which GDS NZ reservations are hosted on, other than Carina.) Or are NZ bookings blocked from viewing while a pax is in the air? Many thanks! |
Website Problems/Issues thread
I don't think you can view it elsewhere.

Hi Daniel, we're aware that being able to buy up to a FF accruable fare is a desirable new feature, and are looking at a range of options for meeting this need.

The NZ based Air NZ website is no longer available in the UK it appears. Everytime I enter it, I get redirected to the UK site. I can select .com, .ca and the .com.au sites, but not the co.nz site which is rather frustrating if trying to book less than a "Works" ticket TT or domestically.
Is this NZ just trying to deny foreign travellers the lower priced basic product tickets? Coincidentally the airnzagent.co.nz site is also unavailable. |
I too am currently in the UK and 24 hours ago was on the NZ website placing dummy bookings to determine various fare class availability and status earning and today this ability as you say to access the NZ site has disappeared.
I also use the NZ website to book cheap fares for when I will be in NZ - grab a seat etc Have just spent the last 30 mins trying to find away around this and the only way was finding a NZ issued email offering NZ deals for NZ residents - clicking on the link enabled me to access NZ fares in $NZ If you PM me I can forward you the email so you can gain access to the NZ fares and website thru this means Not sure what is going on here or what they are playing at - tried accessing other countries and the gateway web address took me to the USA and Japan sites no problems |
Sounds like a glitch rather than enemy action. It is working fine from the US and Belgium for me.
What happens if you go to airnz.com/gateway and pick New Zealand? I wonder if they have some accidental referral to the UK site even when you override their auto-geo-detection using the gateway tool. |
Alternatively use one of the various tools available to mask your geolocation.

Problem solved, tried accessing today directly and no problem. Thank you to anyone from NZ who fixed this.

Booked on NZ on a SQ stock (618xx). I have the NZ PNR from SQ, but when I try and enter it into the Manage my Booking tab; it redirects me to airnz.sg (??) which obviously doesn't exist and therefore I can't access my booking to change seats etc.
Any way to get around this (besides calling them up - which I will eventually do if all else fails). |
A couple of anomalies I've noticed lately:
1. Manage booking/seat select etc has no language option and comes up in the default language of the point of origin of the ticket. I had a China-NZ-China ticket so everything was stuck on Chinese. 2. OneUp seems to attempt to deduct the face value of the currency of your ticket/bid from Sharepoints when a bid is successful. I've had USD OneUps fail because it doesn't deduct enough, and RMB OneUp transferred 4.3x too many APD into my account from the oldest bucket in the Sharepoints pool. Thankfully, it then only deducts the correct amount to 'pay' OneUp (at quite a good exchange rate!). |
What is the point of that Economy/PE/Business selector thing on the homepage in the 'Book a Flight' section? No matter what you select, the prices in the balls at the top of the next page show the lowest economy fare for the day.
