Menus and meals 2022-2023

I have enjoyed previous threads on this.
So a starter for 10…. Current TT - NZ/AU Breakfast out / Lunch in
Experienced this one twice in quick succession.
The breakfast bagel has been a hit for me.
“Smokey chicken” was to smoky for me. Lamb was lovely.

I had the snapper on a flight SYD-AKL - pretty dry and underwhelming. Small portions, nice crew and full BP cabin two Thursdays ago. Surprised they gave out amenity kits on the sector.

.Surprised they gave out amenity kits on the sector.
Probably because they have 100,000 sitting in warehouse in Auckland !!

I sensed that might have been the case having spent two years giving none away

AKL - SFO

Everything was underwhelming. I had the steak - was dry and the sides had seen better days!

During the short lived Tasman Bubble last year they did as-well, including in PE.

Does currently look like not a lot of variation between menus!!
NZ6 identical to NZ8 from memory.
Same menu items coming up across multiple routes.
The steak I got was perfect. But now have had a dodgy breakfast bagel - the bottom 1/2 was literally like a rock and inedible. Was willingly replaced but not noticed by crew during service.

so nice to be flying again, even if the minor inconveniences!!

That's not really any different to how things used to be. All the North American flights had similar menus - I'd need to drag some out to double check (flight numbers are printed on them) but historically NZ6/8/28 (LAX, SFO and IAH) shared the same dinner menu and from memory NZ2/24/26 (LAX, YVR, ORD) shared a slightly different menu.

NZ282 AKL-SIN April 24th, PE, almost identical menu. Except for dinner, the chicken option was replaced with an Asian one "Chicken and mushroom served with fried rice and seasonal vegetables". And for breakfast, the omelette and rosti options were replaced by "Braised pork belly on egg noodles".

Did not take photos sorry.

Seeing the pink and purple coloration on these menus reminds me how much I dread the B787 lighting on NZ.. And the locked window shades so there is no escape from the purple glow.
