So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

Agreed - especially given likely high YQ on the aeroplan redemption. The westbound transatlantic is really not that painful in Y. LHR-YEG was pretty comfortable yesterday at the row 12 bulkhead.

Agreed. I realize many FTers have a lot more disposable income than me (I do live in Vancouver, after all ), but I just can't imagine a scenario where I'd cough up one-thousand-dollars of my own money for a bigger chair for an eight-hour day flight (and I'm a big guy who has a hard time in economy). I mean I'm not as ludicrously frugal as my pre-boomer (WW2-UK-born) parents, but a grand? Ouch.

...and if I did have a spare grand lying around I'd feel more inclined to direct it to Kiva or their ilk.

And as long as people are willing to pay these prices, we're never going to see a "spectacular bargain".

Then again, if spectacular bargains were common, upgrades would never clear.

Does this look like they are testing a lower pricing rate?

Nah, they'd rather get LMU revenue during the summer than have to do op-ups.

LHR-YYZ

OLCI at T-23h

L fare, Tango

629.00 GBP

Declined. Tempting, but no way is this miserly backpacker forking out $1000 for a bigger seat. 19D will be plenty of room for me.

FRA to YYZ

FRA-YYZ T-24 on August 25. $1109 LMU offer.

I believe there was only 1 Y seat left, and 6 in J. Declined, as I am hoping for an oversold situation so I can luck into an op-up.

Edit: unsure if it was in Euros or in CAD.

ORD - YYZ $149 - declined (that's an expensive cheese plate)

Didn't get the seat counts.
