So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

Expertflyer is not free, but it is web-based (Iīve been using it for some years and have been very happy being able to access it from any computer at the lounge etc.)

I also use Expertflyer. It's awesome and lives within a web browser, so there's nothing to install.

Great point. I don't believe any of these numbers come from AC. Guess work maybe a bit of modeling by groups who put them out.

On another point. Since LMU supersede gate upgrades, should the number of eUps required for gate upgrades not be lower than required for confirmed upgrades? AC says R fare = J = X eUps. Since gate upgrades are less than LMU their eUps should be much lower.

A little OT, but what do you mean you "don't believe any of these numbers come from AC"? What "guess work" are you talking about? If I'm sitting in the gate area waiting for a flight that's J5 and 2 passengers are called to the podium for their upgrades, I simply refresh my EF and it shows J3. Two more get called, refresh and get J1. At this point, if I'm still waiting for a seat, I start to get fidgety.

The point is there doesn't seem to be any indication IME that someone's "guessing" the fare numbers. Isn't that the whole reason KMS and EF charge us for their services? I was under the impression that they have agreements with the airlines to access their fare information much the same way as travel agents. In my mind, at least, that explained the fees we're charges as users and the fact that not all airlines grant access to all their available fares.

The KVS Tool Setup most certainly cannot (and does not) install anything other than the Tool itself.

thanks. turns out EF has a free trial. that was enough for me to see J9 C9 so I have high hopes.

a few more days and I'll report back with how it turned out.

Good luck! If you only need some information a few times per year Iīm sure a fellow FTer will be happy to help out and look up availability for you, but getting your own subscription to Expertflyer (or KVS) is extremely useful if youīre a regular flyer.

AC 899 LHR-YEG in Y

Booked in M - saving eup credits for the west-east return.

Offered upgrade at OLCI T-24h for $639.00. Seems very reasonable, but declined. Phone agent told me days ago this flight was heavily oversold, so hoping for the miracle E50K op-up.

Flightstats:
R/2 Y/5 B/5 M/0 U/0 H/0 Q/0 V/0 W/0 S/0 T/0 L/0 K/0 J/7 C/7 D/6 Z/4

Indeed, thought itīs a LMU from an M fare which is quite expensive in the first place. In my experience the LMU prices are at least somewhat related to the fare class originally purchased.

I'd take the LMU, it is a good price. I don't see an op-up happening on this flight based on those numbers, particularly with that LMU price enticing others to vacate Y.

Just got comp upgrade at gate. It seems like only a handful of J seats were full because they upgraded like 7 other passengers.

Nice touch for an early am flight YYZ-LGA.

Thanks AC.
