That would certainly be consistent with the track log - which shows a pretty rapid descent to 10,000 feet, consistent with a depressurization event.


According to flightaware, the flight departed Shanghai at 5pm (Shanghai time), they reached 35,000 feet at 6pm, and the rapid descent started at 6:40pm. Landing at Narita was at 7:27pm.

No. The flight was late departing Shanghai as the inbound flight needed to return to the gate to add fuel to deviate around volcanic activity. Then the flight needed to divert.
