Please do not keep posting wrong info here. In order to make SE by Oct 15, you must fly 100,000 miles or 95 segments. (Account will not change over to SE by flying 97,500 before Oct 15 as per your post above.)

Can you confirm what the treatment is for a member that reaches the full published level but after OCT 15th?

Is there "lite" Elite and / or SE?

If one crosses 100k by Nov 8th, does that person become SE shortly thereafter (with or without having a package); Jan 1 2009 or March 1, 2009?

I apologize, I had been told that the early recognition would ''kick'' in at 95 segments, forgetting they had brought down the requirements from 100 segments, to 95 last year. Didn`t realise that until now. Thanks for the correction.

No such thing as 'lite' E/SE. If you crosses the threshold after the early recognition deadline, officially you won't get your status until Mar 1 of the following year but previous history has showed that you will get your new status when your package is printed and sent out to you in Jan/Feb.

I still think that the lack of incentive for an "early" re-qualifying E is a problem. I have now reached E for 2009. My understanding is that if I go to 40K, I get 2 SWUs, but no more SSWUs until 60K. For me, SE is out of the question, so trying other airlines is now an attractive option. Last year I went from SE to E, and that is the worst - they process your package dead last "just in case you actually get to SE again". So I could not book (as I planned) upgrades with SWUs on M fares as I watched I go from 9 to 0 for the flights I wanted.

I thought that E's didn't get any more SSWUs until 75k. Have they dropped it back down to 60k?

You are right - two more SWUs at 40 and 60K then two SSWUs at 75K - even less incentive than I thought!

After you qualify for early Elite in mid-2008, do you then get the SWUs for 40K? I take it as given that the SWUs for 20K aren't issued because you weren't Elite when you hit 20K.

Thanks!

Why would you take as given something that contradicts the many-times confirmed experience of FTers to the contrary that has been included in the first post of this thread, and confirmed by a reliable source on the first page?

There have been a few people saying they didn't get them, so things could change, but absent a deluge of experience to the contrary or confirmation from a reliable source, the current wisdom is that you do receive them, albeit separately from the intro package.

  • Because certs for 20K haven't arrived
  • Because the first post is from 2006
  • Because Andrew Yiu contradicts the first post on the first page "If you get Elite, you will start earning certs when you reach the next threshold (45K)." [in 2006 the certs were at 15K, 30K, 45K, 60K vs. today's 20K, 40K, 60K]
  • Because it seems reasonable to me that they would start with the 40K set

Has anyone received certs (for a threshhold <35K) after qualifying for early Elite in 2007 or 2008?

Thanks!

It's an issue but I'm not sure it's a problem. Let's keep in mind that AC has one of the lowest qualifications for hitting Elite (*G) within *A. I believe most of *A require 50K whereas AC is a relatively low 35K qualification threashold.

Personally I only fly 40K or so each year, so I'm quite happy that the threshold is where it is. To institute early re-qualification incentives for E might entail a revamp of E altogether which could mean the threshold will creep up to where the other *A partners have theirs.

Well, I qualified earlier this year for E and am now close to 60k but have received only one set of cert's, presumably for the 40k threshold.

Normally I dispute everything written by robsawatsky, but I'll relent and update the first post to indicate that the 20k certs are probably not being sent anymore.

If anybody did receive the 20k certs after getting early E (starting from basic or P) in 2008 please post here.

Mildly off topic... but this delay in mileage posting is driving me nuts, my flights from last Saturday posted fine putting at me at 33,000 and some odd, but my flight from Sunday night (that would put me just over 35,000) still hasn't posted yet. Driving me nuts when I check each day!

Oh well, I need to learn some patience..

I'll be getting my AC*E back as of 10/09/08. Well, once the MILE post from my flights current to 10/09/08 anyway.

I'll be sure to hound AC on it and keep my boarding passes. 2 of the 6 flights are on AC metal, the rest are UA code shares - yeah, I'm playing with fire
