I guess the post was posted before AC gutted the SE benefits.
My apologies Andrew.
In its present state SE does not even come close to UA 1K.

Can you post details here? I am curious even if I'll never be invited to UGS :)

More concierges on the way......

YYC is adding two more concierges to their ranks. One has already started, or started her training (by fire. She had to help out with AC850 when it went mechanical on Sun/Mon), and another is still several months off but is in the plan. I didn't get any names yet but hopefully they complement the existing crew and learn all their good ways. ^

The Concierge Service is great.

On the upside, I think one of the best developments in YYZ was increased accessibility provided by the new Concierge office at T1 check in area.

On the downside - they only have two in Frankfurt and in Sao Paulo they are never around and when they are they are rarely helpful.

Becoming an SE Concierge ...

BTW, how does one do the above?

(No, this is definitely just a query and not a life changing question!) :D

I found this on line at AC Horizons: "There are about 130 Concierge Agents at Air Canada, in 22 airports around the world. Training is provided by Air Canada’s Career Development team in conjunction with specialists in the field of concierge training. The training program focuses on service-oriented skills including guest management, cultural diversity, customer relationship and creative problem solving"

They apply. I do not know what the selection criteria are; however, I have been told that seniority does not count for this position.

PM me and I will give you a run down.
Like SQ PPS, many benefits just as PPS is only achieved by pure J/F class fares high revenue member, UGS is revenue based, so benefits are there. SE benefits do not even come close.

What are the benefits? I hope you can respond in this public forum?

Re: downside...must disagree with one of the specifics. The concierge I dealt with in FRA....his name for the minute escapes me... Andrew?....was firing on all cylinders! Great job! (Even though I didn't get my upgrade!) C'est la vie!

I can also confirm that Andrew was super. He managed our unconfirmed upgrades in a busy summer schedule and was even kind enough to transfer my mom (who was in award J) to the same flight as us (from a later flight) despite my attempts to do this using the SE phone line several times before the trip.

Too bad FRA itself is not pleasant.

Have dealt with all 3 FRA concierges this year: Andrew, Doerte and Nathalie. They've all been very helpful. :)

I did mean to disparage the staff in Frankfurt. My point was that there are only two Concierge's in Frankfurt. They are spread to thin and, for example, do not meet the morning arrivals unless specifically requested well in advance. I too have had the pleasure of dealing with Andrew and agree that he does a great job. But he needs some help.
