Do you always call in for your upgrades? |

One time whilst wedged between 2 sumo wrestlers in the back row I happened to find out through a fellow traveler that a couple of schmucks - er, less frequent travelers than myself - got the bulkhead on an unreserved Tango fare. Guess that's why I was asking for pointers. Thanks for the help, folks. This place is awesome. ^ ^ ^ ptb |

Yes I call for upgrades 7 days in advance (when my schedule allows me to know where I'm going that soon). Don't know if it's the routes I'm taking or what but invariably the SE desk tells me J is full and I'm "priority wait-listed" for an upgrade. Then when I ask if they can at least improve my seat, I generally get "no, you'll have to arrive at the airport early to get a better seat." Oh ya, I've got time for that. Ok your very next trip take a few minutes and go introduce yourself to the concierges in YYC, bearing in mind they are not all the same, tell them your recurring problems and let them know you'd like their help to better your situation and ask if you can call threm for seat problems, upgrades etc. What are your principle runs? Hmmm.
Even wild horses have a vote on here. You can't keep 'em down. Since you bring the subject up though... The horse reference isn't quite right. Understand I've had many comments about my screen name. Perhaps it's way too noticeable? I dunno. Delighted I've attracted so much attention! [QUOTE=parnel]

Parnel I think the Mustang has a secret.... :D Anyone else figured it out? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Perhaps!
Although not sure how you figured it out so quickly. Really smart of you though... Not sure anyone else has? Even though you've posted it on here... Laugh won't last too much longer! I would like to thank you for your astute observation, though. Seriously - very smart... Although I'd prefer to keep it going just a tiny bit longer... Nonetheless, I've had fun :-) Anyway. Thanks for the observation. Saluations, my friend. See who else figures it out...

I'll second the comments here that you should introduce yourself to the YYC concierges. They are all great folks and can really help out. Their just moved their office in the past few weeks with the build-out of the domestic and international check-in area being completed. Their new office is right behind the J class check-in area. Ask for them the next time you check-in even just to introduce yourself and let them know your traveling patterns. If they know where you are going and when they can keep an eye on seats and change them to exit rows and non-middle ones without even calling or asking. ^ |

ptb-- welcome to Flyertalk!! Here is a small suggestion-- if in doubt or any difficulties CALL THE CONCIERGES. They are great--especially the ones at YYC which is nearly home base for me. They will help you out any way they can and I can attest to that. Enjoy the benefits.

ptb FT is where I learned the way of the SE Jedi. There are so many SE's out there who know jack squat about anything, it boggles my mind. Of course, that bodes well for us who take advantage of the "knowledge is power" idiom and exploit those ignorant SE saps ;) I have managed to get freebie certs from E's and SE's because they think it's worthless (they think you need to buy full fare to upgrade!). I admit this is evil, but oh well too bad so sad! These are just one of the ways I exploit the ignorant! :D |

They can't always be ready for you unless you approach them with an issue/problem. Sometimes I just drop by to say hi. Sometimes I chat it up a bit at the MLL desk when it's not busy. Make yourself known to them! |
