Unquestionably the single greatest benefit of Air Canada's Super Elite programme - far superior to any personal attention given by other airlines! ^

Not really clear how you "try" UGS -- from all that I hear, it is by invitation only.

UGS really isn't as good as it sounds, SEs already get most of the benefits that UGS gets - such as concierge service.

But just in case I will get Elite with AC. |
When their good, their great.
I had a connection in YYZ a few days ago. Left my camera on the inbound flight. I realized my error after getting on my connecting flight and the door was about to close. After takeoff I mentioned my problem to the incharge and asked if the pilots could send a data link back to YYZ to do a quick search. By the time I got to YVR no reply had come.
I checked my messages and a concierge from YYZ was in possesion of my camera and was wondering how to get it to me. She was able to send it to lost and found in YVR where I could pick it up at my convenience. ^ The next day I get off the plane in YEG and a concierge meets me on the bridge. "I see you are doing a quick turn and since the outbound flight has lots of room, here is a better seat." ^ ^ |
One thing I have found is that a very good travel agent (read as one who has clout with AC, and these are not so common) can deliver results similar to SE benefits - but without the onsite concierge advantages. The trick is getting access to those agents.

OK, so I'm a newbie to FT and I've got to say this whole thread just blew me away. I've been SE for 5 years now and, in all that time, have encountered a concierge maybe once and that was at LHR when, after I'd boarded, an AC lady got on the plane and introduced herself to me, asked if I was fine and introduced me to the in-charge flight attendant in front of the rest of first class. It was kind of flattering (although somewhat embarrassing) but that's my only encounter with a concierge (in fact at the time, I didn't realize that's what she was!)
Meanwhile, in that same 5 years, I've been stuck in middle seats at the back, missed tight connections and had to wait hours until they could re-book me, been told I couldn't get an upgrade only to spot an AC employee up there, etc. I've never thought too much about these situations or complained because I assumed that was just the way things were but, after reading this thread, I feel like I just fell off the turnip truck. Would someone please tell me what the hell I'm doing wrong?! ptb |
Welcome to the AC FT forum, ptb. :)
As for SE access to concierge, can't really explain why you have not been able to access them more. Not sure of your flying habits(destinations) There are concierges in Calgary. On your next trip outbound ,you may want to stop into the office and introduce yourself. You have the numbers(if not PM me) and you can call as well. You are missing out on what I consider one of the great advantages of SE status. |

Wow. This surprises me; I've been consistently impressed with concierge presence and service from day one - not just in Canada, but also particularly London and Hong Kong.
Couple of weeks ago I was stuck in traffic on the 427 for an international flight and the concierge was waiting for me at security with my boarding pass. Their service and presence rocks.

Concierge presence and KK is AC/AP best features! :) Anne Rosen ROCKS!
We don't fly AC for the nice planes or in advance upgrades... ;) But in 2007 we might. :p |

BTW, can they help you get a decent seat when you book online and all that’s indicated as available is 29B even though you know the bulkhead’s wide open? ptb |
