That dreaded N fare is driving me crazy! If you book YYC-YVR on an N tango-type fare online at aircanada.ca you don't get an advanced seat assignment, but if you book online with travelocity, expedia or destina you do get advanced seat assignment. So all N fares are not created equally? The next fare level up on aircanada.ca goes up from $89 to $134; $45 each way for a confirmed seat? Gimme a break, AC.

This same fare booked on destina, travelocity or expedia ALL offer pre-assigned seats! I can deal with the low, low T fares...but N and E are not always a deal. This new simplified fare structure has many pitfalls.

Please note that ALL Canada/US flights including Hawaii will be under the same accumulation rules (no more distinguishing between destinations).
J will earn 150%.
C/Y will earn 125%.
All others will earn 100% except E/N/T will earn 50% NON status miles.
Will update initial posts.

Empress, You have helped me (a TA) many times before. Could you please clarify the following. If I book a N class fare in the GDS - Galileo, will the reservation count towards status (re)qualification?? You mention that the N T and E fares can only bo booked online? The fare basis is as fdar as I can see not a Tango fare. We get conflicting answers from Air Canada reservation agents.
Thanks as always

Apologies if I'm a little slow on the uptake here, but I saw in an earlier post that 'Y' fare gains access to MLL, is this correct ?
My employer has started flying me on a semi-regular basis YVR-YWG and books me Y class even though the metal is ZIP. That MLL would sure be nice.
I've only just started flying *A, former OneWorld, will be doing quite a bit on AC, is there any real good reason for choosing Aeroplan over Mileage Plus ? Mileage Plus looks like a better program to me.
All advice gratefully received.

Hi Empress,
Thanks for the reply. The fares are booked by our company travel agent (Uniglobe) so I guess they don't qualify ? The boarding cards say 'Y' on them.
I won't be racking up much mileage but may get status from number of sectors flown. I thought from UA's site that I would get 1.5 x segments and points from AC flights (in full Y class), this may be my misunderstanding.

Mileage Plus does not offer any class of service EQM on AC metal. You get bonus miles, as awarded by AC, but they do not qualify for MP status.

Thanks Empress/Simon,
The paper ticket says Y Confirmed on it. Maybe I'd be better to stick with Aeroplan, the redemption sucks though, more points for everything and from what I can tell on here, award seats are hard to come by.
