Can someone please tell me the reason for AC1775 (AZS-YYZ) cancellation on 11 Jan? My husband and his father were supposed to be on it. It's leaving today (12 Jan) instead, which, with their connections back to Europe, will have them home nearly 19 hours delayed. Since the final destination is EU, compensation is due barring extraordinary circumstances, correct?

Is AC having availability issues with their 77L's?
I've had three instances that I can recall in the last couple of months where what had been scheduled as a 77L was switched within 48 hours to either a 77W or 789.
AC880 today looked like it was booked almost completely full on a 77L but now shows as a 789. they had shown zero availability for J on the 77L a couple of days ago, so I'm wondering where they have sent 10 J customers given the new aircraft.

the inbound AC1774 arrived 4h15m late in AZS, all the notes show are reason code 00 & 05.
You should file for APPR compensation. AC will deny, at first, but it was within their control: they could have recrewed before leaving the YYZ gate 3hrs late, or planned more contingencies for the Carribbean stations.

AC56 has a stellar performance record this week. Fulll loads (minus a self offloading pax Monday).
Mon. delayed 6hrs, Tues 9hrs, Friday evening cancelled 24hrs in advance due to weather. The CUN-YYZ inboundaircraft is showing ontime, so the weather must be in DXB. Makes sense as it's always snowboard/ski season there.

Was informally tracking the number of destination YYZ flights diverted elsewhere, not all AC. Will be fun on top of the cancellations. Still many others drawing paperclips in the sky.

Lots of AC flights in YOW cancelled this morning due to snow.
Many flights in the afternoon either delayed or cancelled.

YHZ is an AC cluster.
My AC 619 bailed with one approach and diverted to YUL
In and around the same time Sunwings landed as did Porter.
Porter tried hard and made it

Seems like more effort than required to get someone off a flight to YWG.

The RCMP was called to an incident on Winnipeg-bound Flight 296 before it took off Saturday afternoon, YVR confirmed.
A caller to CityNews says they saw police officers go on the plane and come out with someone who was tied up around his legs.

I was booked on EU-YYZ-YUL-YVR. The YYZ-YUL was cancelled, and AC put me on an earlier flight (45 min connection!). Unfortunately, my EU-YYZ was late due to inbound, so I would have missed my connection. Woke up to a EU-YYZ-YVR itinerary. I lose out on on 523 + 25% SQM/LQM, but I arrive earlier than I would have. Thanks AC!

Friday night the YYZ-GRU-EZE AC90 flight was 5 hours late leaving YYZ. This meant that those of us going AC91 EZE-GRU then AC97 GRU-YUL (and onwards) were stuffed as the GRU-EZE plane wasn't even going to leave EZE by the time AC97 was setting out back to YUL. I'd be curious to know how many people spent the night in GRU last night as the GRU-YYZ leg on AC91 was looking fairly full by the time I left.
I am not happy that i'll get home 12 hours late to YYC but it could have been much worse, and I am pleased with what they were willing to do for rebooking - on an Aeroplan redemption using eUps to boot! They first offered EZE-AMS-YYC as that would have got me home the earliest, but only AMS-YYC in J; EZE AMS was J0 and 13 hours so I declined. Also offered UA to IAH in J but then a 13 hour layover and Y to YYC. They ended up booking me on LATAM to SCL, an overnight, then SCL-YYZ-YYC holding a J seat for me all the way through. So there are a few decent stories out there, I was worried that I was instead going to be posting the downgrade from a previously confirmed eUpgrade thread...

Weather can change significantly over a short period of time.
Why AC didn't circuit + try again? That I don't know but I suspect depends on a number of factors.
