concierge update
Most of the conceirges that I have come to know are all gone. Have they been replaced and does anyone have a list of their names? Is there a published list? OR is this great program going down the toilet!

What city are you talking about?
There's still a lot of them left in YYZ and they are all hanging out in their offices doing... something!
They do help us out at CKIN once in a while I have to admit!
I don't think there's a published list of VIP's but I remember seeing some names in our CIC's!

At YYZ I see them sometimes in T1 but rarely at T2. Even when I have come in on some delayed flights into T2 with extreme connections, I am rarely met by a conceirge and I am an long term SE.
In Europe, I often have to call one but often I never get ahold of one. Sometimes I never even get a return phone call, eg LHR and CDG which leads one to believe they do not exist or are hiding. In some cities such as ORD, HNL, CDG, FRA, Sao Paulo, Narita, LAX, and LGA, I have never never laid eyes on one.
The overall impression I am getting is that they have lost a lot of their power and are increasingly becoming only window-dressing!
Remember the good ones like Shelly, Jann, Dave in YOW, Dave in YVR, and whats-his-name at LHR who was featured in a BBC eposide on its show on Heathrow which I was included in but never saw!!!

His name is Calvin at LHR. Not sure if he is still there?

Wow.. I'm surprised you haven't seen one in ORD... Things must have really changed if you haven't... Paul and another lady (sorry, I can't remember her name right now) used to meet all the flights there and have gate information and connection status ready for you...
If they've gone the way of the do-do, then that is truly a loss...

"Mr LE, I've got a much nicer seat for you if you'd like to follow me."
I recognised him from the "Airport" series that the BBC ran over here (sort of like a day in the life of LHR, ran for a few years following certain employees) and had a sense he was going to give me a better seat.
He was surprised to hear that I had seen him on TV!

The concierge at KIX is wonderful. I still should have her business card somewhere. She always waits with a sign at the gate upon arrival and she can be very helpful. Helped me courier my luggage to a hotel 300 miles away.
The one in Tokyo is nice also.

All the concierge at YYC are still there except two--they have been on extended vacation but are due to be back soon. They are as helpful as ever. I have never met a concierge at YYZ (spoke to one and she did get my flights straightened out) so don't know their status. This service is still one of AC's best, so, in keeping with true tradition AC may decide to cancel it.
