You need 50K eligible miles to qualify for P25K. 50% of purchased miles, including bonus, are eligible. You would only need to buy 61K miles. With bonus, that's 100,650, and 50% of that is 50,325.

If you've earned any miles from other activities (e.g. credit card spend) during the period, you could reduce your purchase amount further.

Bought a smaller number at 90% - but am REALLY annoyed... Who comes up with these ridiculous schemes... Considering cancelling the TD visa...
I had the exact same problem. I got an alert minutes later. By then, I had already used by Amex Platinum and it went through. I only bought 100,000 miles = 215,000 miles with bonus. I was panicking(?) during those minutes.

For those who know a lot more than I do about these things... does anything think this could be repeated soon, based on, what I assume to be, a great response? Decent(?) cash flow. And if flying isn't back to "normal" soon, then they could certainly use the cash.

I know my question is speculative.

Now only waiting for Japan to open up boarders in October...
Let's hope Japan have the 14-day quarantine requirements by October until a vaccine is available

It's quite possible. They can raise a few million of cash with minimal expense. And unlike selling specific flights, if COVID drags on and makes a mess of the fall schedule too, they won't have a bunch of people clamouring for refunds.

Cow's correct as I meant that after I purchased my block of miles at the 90% bonus, I logged out and signed back in as I thought about buying more but noticed it had fallen to 65% so didn't bother continuing.

None of us with any long term experience with Air Canada, Aeroplan and technology should be surprised by this though - this is business as usual.
I also had a 525 error at one point. Not sure how that differs from 520. But yeah, lots of variety in the mess.

I did not receive my miles instantly, how long does it normally take for Points.com to process those transactions ?

It should show up in your transactions list instantly. To have your total updated on the main screen, you probably need to log out and back in. If not... something wrong. Did you have a pending transaction on your credit card?

Interesting article from Lucky:

https://onemileatatime.com/aeroplan-points-promotion/

It would suggest that with how popular this was (highest ever traffic on the points.com website), and with Aeroplan increasing the bonus from 65% to 90% in the second hour of the promotion to try and address an unhappy group (not sure if that is actually correct), AC/Aeroplan will do this again. I bought 100K miles and got the 90% bonus. I thought about going back in to purchase more but, since it dropped to 65%, I chose not to. If they offer this again this summer I suspect I will buy more.

This seems like an expensive way to buy P25 ---- except for the fact that flights probably won't be full for a while. For a casual traveller if they could snag a bunch of exec class tickets to decent destinations (and avoid any co-pays for upgrades) it might work out.

Personally I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger. LOL

Wonder if AC will also eventually offer the 90% bonus to those who logged in between 10am-12pm, saw the 65% offer and did not purchase.
