AC008/007 - which aircraft type?

Hi there

Does anyone one which type of 777-300ER is normally deployed on the YVR-HKG route?
The premium config or the one with less J seats?

thanks in advance

The one with fewer J seats, aka the “HD” variant.

It's been the "HD" ones since 2014. Though I have seen the 42/40 J seat ones being subed in from time to time.

Oh, anyone else remember those coffin J seats from 2014 to mid 2016? I miss them sometimes

I was so immensely uninspired that I only have 1 photo of them. LOL

I only suffered those once, and it was YYZ-YUL, so I had no issues with it.

For the OP's consideration though, from an on-board experience perspective, I don't think there's much of a difference now that the cabins are the same. Maybe worse chances of an upgrade on the 28J version since the ratio is so much worse, but once on board, largely the same.

The coffin seat is the most hated AC J seat ever. I boycotted AC and flew CX J until they changed the seats.

This thread is slowly (quickly?) becoming flashbacks for the bad-AC-seat PTSD folks.

I've done the angled 345 J seats, including the first commercially operated flight for AC... I still say the HD coffins were WAY worse, although I've done the HD coffin for 7.5 hour TATLs, and the 345s only for 4.5 hour tcons.

I think we were all so excited by the arrival of the angled seat that the reality was such a disappointment. I just remember finding myself in a heap at the bottom and wishing for the return of the big old 343 armchairs. I think this was on a flight to HKG but my memory fails.

Bringing this old thread back to life, not sure when the metal changed from 777 HD on this route between HKG YVR. It is now operated by 787-9 with 247 in Y (3x3x3) 21 PY 29 J seats. I hear 787-9 is much nicer but never been on one on a long haul. Any recent experience in terms of comfort in Y or J on the 787-9? I am 6 feet. Lots of complaints about how bad it was in Y during the 777 HD days with 3x4x3 in Y.
