Does anyone else notice or find this frustrating? or is time AC changes there slogan to "we are not happy, till you are not happy!"
I find 80% of the time mine priority bags come out as part of the first batch. However, I do notice other bags not tagged priority coming out at the same time. I assume these are people you checked in last and has their bags stacked at the end of pile LIFO (last in, first out).

I just transited through a small Japanese airport via ANA and my teams' 20 bags came out first before anybody else's.... but like many of you Pearson is hit and miss for priority. I find smaller airports that AC has a decent presence at are quite good.

For me it's a bit of a crapshoot because some of my bags come via oversize anyway and those are always last at YYZ.

I do not think it is the tagging that is the issue but more of loading. I have had a lot of times the priority tag but bag comes off extremely late. So either at departure, they are not loading the bags into the right ULD or at arrival they are not taking these ULDs off in the right order.

With this being your first post, welcome to FT!

Priority bags do not need the orange tag. Priority is an attribute that's part of the bag data, so you can have a bag without the orange tag but still scans as a priority bag.

This. Depends on the gate agent who does the tagging I guess. All 4 times at YYZ I never got the orange tag, but the checked bag itself will say PRIO

The priority is also programmed into the system, the tag is just a visual reminder. If you are travelling through most of the major, modern airports, the priority will be read electronically by the scanner. But in some smaller airports, baggage handlers will visually identify priority bags by the tag.

It is common that a bag is a priority bag in the system but without tag, or vice versa.

Priority bags can work and its awesome when they do.
A tale of two cities. Just arrived on AC 91. On the ground for 45 minutes. Not a single bag to be seen, priority or otherwise. The constant announcements telling me my bag is being delivered on carousel 5 and 6 is a nice touch by YYZ. False hope always gets people excited.

Seems so. 2 of 3 bags return were loaded onto the wrong flight. Only ours apparently - so much for priority. Suppose they will show up eventually. Bonus is that they disappeared coming home from holiday.

Just a guess on my part, but the unmarked bags may include those which boarded too late for overhead bin space and wound up riding in the belly. They would definitely fit that "last on, first off" theory.

Had a talk with a few SMs of a few big Middle East and Asian airlines about this. It looks a bit more complicated they said. It also matters how many bags are able to be loaded into a particular ULD. (Container) and how many bags are for quick transfer? They do not put a few bags in a separate container just for rprioritythey said. So now it makes a bit of sense why some bags come on time and why some do not. The quick transfer bags as priority according to them.

From my flights into YYZ over the past 3 mos (10+), I'd say this is par for the course...not sure why they are so bad, but they need to do better.

So far I have had great luck with my luggage coming out first when I have them priority tag on. Knock on what it continues

Flew in to YUL from NRT this week. It was a veritable gong show. The flight had been diverted to YWG to unload a seriously ill pax, so the flight was late by about 3 1/2 hours. First thing I notice as I walk down into the baggage collection point; Baggage Delivery is the responsibility of your carrier. I expect that YUL is fed up with the complaints about AC's poor baggage delivery service.

The carousel number where the bags can be collected is never posted, but there are 2 announcements to go to the carousel to collect the bags. I wait 1 hour.No indication of last bag delivered as is the format at YYZ. No AC reps available in a hall filled with hundreds of bags. A small number of J cabin pax have not received their bags. I go to the AC baggage desk and wait approx. 45 minutes in line. I get to the desk and the agent says, hang on, they found the container with the priority bags. He says it seems to have been forgotten. He tells me to go back to the carousel and wait. Sure enough 15 minutes later the missing J class bags are delivered. Several J class pax had already left, but for the 8 or so remaining die hard customers, we took our bags and saved the airline delivery fees. It was past 10 PM by the time I left the arrivals hall for a flight that was supposed to have arrived at 16:30. At least I had my bag, but a very poor priority bag treatment.

My base is in YUL. Honestly I don't really experience the Priority Handling that much, but I did feel "faster" when it's at busy/peak time. It should come out a bit earlier than a "non-priority" baggage.

I just got into ATH from YUL, and my suitcase did not show up, but people on our flight who gate-checked carryon got theirs, and I was in J. We flew out of YYC with a 5.5-hour layover in YUL, my wife's suitcase made it, and mine didn't. It appears AC doesn't care we were business class all the way, and they still cannot even perform the basic task of just getting the suitcase even though it has a bright red "Priority" tag on it.
