Priority Baggage, is it really a Priority?

I have mixed results.....when I'm waiting for bags in NA airports flying business or premium econ, my bags almost never come out with the first batch, they just seem to roll out whenever with no real order. When I'm in asia, my bags always come out in the first batch.

I have been thoroughly impressed with priority baggage delivery at Toronto Pearson. Almost every international flight I have landed from on Air Canada at T1 at YYZ, even with Nexus, my bags have been on the carousel right when I get to the bottom of the escalators. (I don't check bags for domestic/TB flights)
I may share my criticisms about Air Canada, but on this ONE item that I care about, Air Canada has been improving substantially.

My experience with bags are:
Carry on. My problem, and if zone 1/2, no slow down. Up to 10 minutes delay waiting for a break in the peons leaving the A/C when I'm slumming it in off-brand carriers.
Sky-checked: wait 5-30 minutes on the air bridge, or tarmac depending on airport
Checked: it'll be delivered to my house 36 hours later
I'm personally aware of no other possible outcomes

Anyone else have recent issues with priority bags not being treated as such?
I arrived yesterday in YYZ from FRA and my bags were among the last off the plane (over one hour delay) despite being clearly marked priority.
I wrote it in, well see if they do anything to make it right.

Ive had no issues this year with check in, security, lounges, boarding, customs, or priority baggage claiming until this most recent flight. Clearly peoples luggage on this flight was arriving as well given the 100+ bags that came out ahead of mine. The issue was one of priority bags not being handled properly.
Edit: I should note that I dont fly Domestic or Transborder. So when I recount my experiences, I do so while recognizing that those flying these types of flights may have been more likely to experience issues. I am referring to flying internationally.

Exactly! We need to collectively get out of this insane mindset that one is lucky to even have their bags arrive. There is no purpose to elite status benefits if they arent adhered to.

The priority tag thing has in my experience always been unreliable, whether that was with AC, LH, KL, WS, or any other airline. I remember many years ago flying on Canadian Regional and looking out the window as we left the stand: my bag was sitting on the ramp with its priority tag. Apparently, they did not load some bags due to weight and balance issues and they did not care to choose non-priority bags over priority ones. That put an end to any notion I had that it meant something.

My experience arriving at YYZ (including before I had status, so I would need to wait around) is that all the priority bags come out, then there is about a 5-10 minute delay, then the rest come out. This makes me think that they are probably coming on different vehicles?
My guess in this case is that everything just got loaded willy-nilly in Frankfurt. Maybe as a result of the ongoing labour unrest in Frankfurt..
I do appreciate that at the arrivals side in YYZ they arent about to re-sort all the priority bags if they arent already segregated off the plane. Maybe this is an unannounced work-to-rule type action in Frankfurt. Or maybe just ground staff that are pissed at their compensation and therefore not doing their jobs properly.

Very destination and equipment dependent.
It's nice when it happens, but I don't really sweat it if it doesn't. I'd rather a bag arrive late on the carrousel than not appear at all.
I'm batting 100% for bags travelling with me this year. Best stations for deliver have been ORD and YVR. Worst was--hardly surprisingly--MCO (which is just flat-out invariably awful for baggage delivery).

Flying YVR to YYZ in 2 weeks time J class. Need to take a suitcase, and wondering what are the chances I will get my bag on arrival, (I can't afford not to get the bag as it carries samples)? Anyone here who might recommend a good solid luggage delivery company instead?
