This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition and 2017 edition
The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. More Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs should be posted elsewhere on FT as should topics better suited to other forums such as Travel Products for questions about luggage or Travel Photography for discussion about cameras.
While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

It's hard not to feel rage when I compare this to my current, grandfathered, 'Cheap for Canada' Fido plan. Grrr.

Airports can be stressful places?
Please note that I am bringing this up because of a statement that was made by the voiceover by the clip above. This is not a discussion about Cathay Pacific, its lounge or what not, but simply one that piqued my interest and that is the statement that airports are stressful places.
While I confess that I do not recall the last time I flew in economy, surely queuing in line is not stressful. A pain, perhaps, but am I missing something whereby people actually find traveling to be "stressful"?

Seriously, I think commercial air travel certainly can be stressful, precisely because of things like queuing, noise, crowds, etc. For me, especially most US airports with their relentless announcements and background TVs.

Or at LGA where I stood in line 60-90 minutes and the line did not actually move. Fortunately in that case I was there four hours early because the weather outside was frightful. I also dislike standing up for hours on end after walking around a city with a 10kg backpack for 9 hours.
It's stressful because you are at risk of missing the cut off or not making your flight.
One of the reasons I prefer to fly J is to avoid queues at check-in and security. Flying Y as an E35k+ was a heck of a lot more pleasant because while on-board service was as per normal I was able to get from curb to lounge in 20 minutes and didn't have to stand in line waiting for all the FOTSG to drag their 17 bags on board. My carry on was already up top and I was watching the IFE by the time anyone else joined me in the back. I also paid half the value for my two companions in row 29 (the two I spoke to anyone).
Now I no longer have status I have no plans to fly Y this year. I'm also not flying AC revenue oddly enough

Queueing can be stressful if you get to the airport 2 hours before an Intl flight and there are 300 people in front of you waiting to drop a bag. The priority line took me 20 minutes.

Just give yourself plenty of time, bring a phone, listen to music, and wait for one's turn. Maybe it is just because I'm old now and stress is relative for me.
Sorry to disappoint. I was busy and unable to be in the CX video.

From the gate of 7676, watching disappointed leaf fans query about the delay, I learned that 7674 was very delayed. Later 4 pax opted to deplane from 7674, which triggered 7674 to be cancelled. According to the GA all pax had to re clear customs thanks to the 4 leafs fans. I guess that triggered the cancel. Go leafs go!
