Data point =we flew out friday afternoon from YYZ on TB west coast flight. No issues at the airport, seemed strangely calm. Maybe 20 people in the rebooking line. Flight departed 20 mins late due to luggage issues. Horseshoes :-)

I call BS on any planning by the GTAA or AC. I just flew YYZ-CLE. Flight left on time and arrived early. Weather is perfect, unlimited visability and ceiling. About a perfect day for flying as you could ask for. ie. the best case scenario.

As I deplaned in CLE, the GA announced that there was a 1 hour ATC delay for the return flight due to the runway construction.

Seriously, 1 hour on a perfect day? Is this ATC? Do they not know how to handle side by side runway operations? Maybe some training by the EWR or LGA controllers would help. They seem to manage every day of the year.

+1. This has been a real issue since I'm always connecting in YYZ from YQB. I had to change countless flights, stay in YYZ hotels (out of pocket money) just to make sure I was in YYZ on time for my YYZ-destination flights. A little love from AC would have been appreciated!

I did the scenic drive out to the runway as well... 24L liked my description of it, and how "I think I am in Milton."

YYZ-NRT is a 788, seats 251 people, but yes, the general idea is correct.

Travel advisory extended another week

to May 16th - the scheduled completion date for the construction.

I was able to use the rebooking tool to change my flights to be via YUL and grab available R space

Close to 2 hours on the phone now, alternating between UA and AC. I'm trying to change a connection point from YYZ to YUL instead but the first flight is on UA and the second on AC. What a mess. The first AC agent messed up my ticket, which had to be re-issued by AC according to UA. Called AC again, got a new, super friendly and knowledgeable agent and they are trying to fix the mess created by their colleague.

Call me crazy, but isn't the delays and cancellations at YYZ for the construction excessive? I only travel 30-35 weeks a year, so your guys probably have more insight. After reading everyone's comments, I have a few of points:
1) There are 2 runways, perpendicular to each other (05/23 & 06/24 and 15/33)
2) Construction is at the end of 23 (furthest west)
3) YYZ operates on 2 runways at one time (East-West runways or North-South runways)
4) YYZ is mainly operating 15/33 runways during the construction (north-south runways)...the occasional 06/24
5) That is the same runway capacity as running the East-West (05/23 & 06/24)
6) YYZ ATC can't coordinate the planes on the taxi ways or is AC looking for an excuse?
