More likely a mistake than deliberate fraud. My guess is that it quuotes from a higher fare bucket for some silly reason. AC IT striking again.

Well, I just thought I'd do it again, you know, for fun. EXACT same dates and flights in April, in PE because I wanted to see the Fare Class.

All were N, both flights on the regular ticket, both flights on the 15% Boxing Day ticket.

Hmmmm, who doesn't love a good mystery.

I looked at a YYC-FRA ticket in Feb. It dropped from about $2260 to $2000 with the discount.

Even within N, there are most likely different bins at different prices. THey should all have been included, but if it was dome manually...

So I took a look at CDG. Exact same April dates as LHR above.

Premium Economy. All N. Discount seems to be working.

Who doesn't love that YQ...LOL

I did not look at other Int'l destinations. Maybe an issue with flights to LHR specifically. Price goes from $1625 to $2075. Same flights (YQB-YYZ-LHR return), same buckets (B, N, N, B). The Fare Basis code is different; NLXAX1 without the promotion code and NLWRCE7 with the GIFT2016 code.

Thank you for believing

I'm glad someone else saw the same increase when applying the promo code to Premium Economy fare to certain cities.

The silver lining is that the promo code actually works for some destinations

I love the idea that someone may want to go to London but the AC Boxing Day Promo Code seems to be having "issues"

So they should say eh, forget it, let's go somewhere where the code works? LOL

As for believing you, I took your post as a challenge to uncover the fun that is AC.com

And, yep not going to LHR. At least not these dates!

I pointed out in an earlier post on the discounts thread that the promo is not nearly as good as prior years with respect to booking class. For example, not applicable to latitude or business fares. It certainly was last year because I used it to book.

Another data point of AC shady practices

I was going to book YOW-YVR in March in this sale, but the Tango price looked high. EF showed A0,L0,K0 which struck me as unusual this far out.

So I waited until I got an EF notification today: now showing L9A9K0 and the price is 16% less, a $54 saving off the 'sale' price.

I recall the T&C of the seat sale did indicate something along the lines of 'prices could drop later'. As indeed they did (and will do so again, when there's another phoney sale)

It is not necessary a phoney sale. I got a good discount on a flight to Asia

While certainly true in your case, I would still consider AC's practices extreme shady based on TomVancouver's example alone.

Just bumping this Boxing Day 2016 thread for a second......

Someone asked about it recently. I found the email AC sent on Dec 27 2015 "AC Boxing day sale! 15% off flights worldwide" but I didn't keep the 2016 or 2017 one.
I'll guess if AC feels like it, they will do one in about a month
