I have a clear recollection of them both because I wanted to use them. Codes followed the same pattern — just the date changed. I believe the pattern was gift2016, gift2017 etc. The big disappointment was the last two years the code could not be used with business class fares.

While it was public on the 26th via an email and the website, I was successful in updating the current year on the code and using it for a dummy booking before the 26th.

Hi all!

I was playing around with the promo code box on Air Canada's website and found that promo code GIFT18 gave 15% off. Not too sure if Air Canada has released it's marketing yet for the promotion but figured I'd share it here.

Specifics for the promo code:
Expires December 28th, 2018, Valid worldwide.
Valid for travel January 10th, 2019 - June 15th, 2019
Black out dates:
February 15th - February 18th
February 28th - March 3rd
March 7 - March 10th
March 15th - March 17th
March 22nd - March 24th
March 29 - March 31st

Enjoy!

Anyone know if I could book a partial routing using this deal? I want to go YVR - EDI but I can't seem to book it because the LHR -EDI is a BA codeshare. If I call in, would they give me the discount on the YVR LHR legs on AC?

@marchelli
The wording in the T&C says "....when booking on aircanada.com". It costs nothing for you to call in and ask, but you may get an agent who says it's only a web promo or the fares they quote may be higher than you thought.

Also there is is a section "Valid on certain codeshare flights only:" and you see which airlines are included, although even one listed has not shown up on any routing I tried, so who knows.

Thumbs up

Unlike the Cyber Monday deal where in the case of YYZ/GRU/YYZ went up significantly on the day of the sale (and later returned to "regular price") a day after Cyber Monday sale ended, no issues this time. The flights I purchased this time were indeed 15% off the base fare offered all this month. So zero complaints this time around.

Booked a YYZ-YVR-TPE flight for later in January. PE on the way there and J on the way back and the discount is a nice bonus. Just rechecked right now and between this AM and this afternoon prices for the same itinerary have gone up $1000 (th J return seat is 1000 more than it was this AM). Glad I did not wait before pulling the trigger.

The Boxing Day emails are the first time I notice such AC items arriving in pairs a few hour apart

Different mailing lists?

PS-the business class flights were 1500 and change yesterday.

Chinese Lunar New Year is 5th Feb. 2019.

Bet flights around those dates will be high demand.

But this is for Jan 27th...

....

Sure I knew PE only had 2 seats available, but who in their right mind would pay 2800 for a the return potion to sit in PE wehn business class is cheaper? It can't be the old "but PE is flexible" bit since the whole ticket can be cancelled for $200.

I would never pay $2800 PE for the whole Toronto to Taipei trip in PE...I sure would not pay it for only the return flight.

This is not unusual. There ought to be a law against it. Oh, wait ....
