Bear in mind that if you only want MLL you can purchase it for < $400 across Canada and about $500 for NA Plus, that's including tax and you can get 35% off (if selected) as a P25.

Or, get a credit card that also does priority boarding/security. None of which will sort out extra luggage and eUp advantages of course.

We had the AQM required but was $200-300 short AQD off SE, Why dont they just let us pay them 200 as opposed to incur cost for AQD runs lol.

Also IDK why they would send it out now, January 3rd would make more sense once the dust settles.
Doing it now for two reasons. The cynic in my says it'll get people to pay now when they'd have qualified anyway and then they can point at the T&C when people complain.

On the other hand, if I was definitely done flying for the year and $100 short of AQD I would want to do it right now as based on the timings I saw it indicates I could get my picks early Jan and potentially start reaping the benefits from say ... mid-Jan instead of March 1st. At least, I think one could do that - if AC actually send our the stuff ahead of time for these people too.

Probably helps stock performance to have extra BIS miles instead of just cash income from buy-ups.

I would argue that pickles have become relevant to any discussion of the Altitude program.

I agree. If you don't love pickles there is no point in buying up to the next status for lounge access alone.

P25 don't get luggage tags. They start at E35.
And LMAO at the special Amex card.

I'd like cards to become bright green, then maybe I can flash my Presto card and sneak into Z1.

That's me; you should feel welcome to waste as much money as you'd like.
I charge a flat rate for travel. I find my clients like the predictability over the last 17 years.. kinda like a flight pass I guess. =P

Handing scraps of paper with invoices is totally not cool imo. So yea, I'll keep wasting my money... which is like, well, my money... because, it's not my clients (or employer's?) money. Besides, I'm unemployed. =)

When it is billed through as expenses that's when you get all kinds of principal agent issues (ie corruption), like "Keep flying me AC and I'll pocket the benefits tax free..." that kind of thing. I'm beginning to think this lawsuit will be more fun after all.

I did not fly as much on AC this year opting for other carriers for Asia flights so will lose status. I am at 34,925 (oh, so close!) miles and over $8000 in AQD so twice the $ threshold. Offered 35K for $499. While some of the benefits are nice for domestic travel, they aren't essential for me. In previous years, it seems many who were close to qualifying were swept into the higher category. I don't expect it will happen with this year with the new offers to buy status, but we will see.

I just received another email.... $499 for 35K.

I have 34 AQS and $7800 in AQD. With two flights scheduled on December 31 (flying home to YYZ from my parents' house in NS)... I guess the systems aren't talking to each other or they hope I change my flight plans!

Edited to add: when I was at 30 AQS they offered me 35K at $599. It's dropped $100 in a couple of weeks.
