You can guess where the trip report is headed from the thread title but for those interested the thread may be found here:

The thing is that it is pretty much accurate. I actually like the pancakes, so call me weird. And I do think UA/DL business (domestic first) hard product in terms of seating is pretty crap. But basically the report is accurate. AC food is weak at best next to food on American airlines in J. And service, while occasionally great, is not as consistent, and on average, not as good as American airlines. Are they the worst? I dunno. SFO777 has a bigger sample size than me. But his observations are largely accurate.

I think concluding AC is the worst airline in North America after 2 flights is an overkill.
However, I agree that AC lags behind the US airlines nowadays in terms of food offerings and the transborder MLLs & MLLs in the US are seriously terrible.

There are some things you grow up with: AC Omelette, taxes, gravity, etc... these things keep me feeling all comfy inside, not wanting to put a bullet through my head.
Just had a massive Calzone on a 2.5hr flight, a large salad, grapes, cheese, etc... Oh well, if J is filled with cheapeners who don't pay for the cabin, we can keep expecting this yes?

In AC Omelette news.....
OK people, we seem to have some mildly obsessive and repetitive food discussions here
1. Food onboard AC in general and some meals in particular
2. Frequent mentions in other threads of sausages and pickles.
I'm not Freud so I won't even go there.
3. Omelettes
So SFO777 got the BoB chicken wrap (which for the record I really like), but yes, he now knows not to do that pancake thing again , but for those of us who fly the same routes frequently - or at the same time of the day - we tend to see the same choices over and over. He is certainly right about breakfast.
In another thread, I posted photos of what I had on AA for breakfast ex-YYZ. Those croissants are fantastic. The quiche and potatoes were awesome. I've had similarly excellent breakfast on CX ex-YYZ, so, my conclusion is that AC sets the menu choices and budget with the caterer and that why we see the same things...for years.
Anyway....a reminder that we seems to rinse, repeat the same food topics..
...this thread has a great discussion on AC food versus others (with plenty of 24left's food porn from SQ, BR and AA)
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-c...call-food.html
And, starting with post # 1549 on this page, you can enjoy a similar omelette-obsessive discussion from Nov 2014.

Transboarder J (especially on narrow body) has been a pretty big joke to me. I would never pay for it under any circumstances. The food is barely tolerable, seats are uncomfortable, etc etc. The trip report is accurate.
That being said, since I never pay for it, I don't have much to complain about. It's better than Y. A bit.

SFO777 has reviewed more flights than most people have been on.
On the one hand, he does a whooole lot of first-class flying, on the other hand I believe he's flown pretty much every J product out there, so he's not just pulling these comparisons out of thin air.
Coming from a smaller list of experiences than his, the whole thing struck me as pretty on the money.

This is not going to make me popular.
I have no comment on SFO777's assessment of AC's J catering or inflight service, but I found that report off-putting from the beginning. Somewhere between the exaggerated voice and the gratuitous insulting of fellow travelers (while sharing photos of their clearly visible faces no less), my sympathy for the OP disappeared.
It seemed remarkable to me that in a cabin of (at most) 14 people, the OP found himself surrounded by two "DYKWIA" "clowns," a "wimp," and a "dreaded," "clueless" seatmate who failed to clutch his "effing Starbucks cup." Maybe the offending parties all deserved to be chided, but my natural inclination was to discount everything else in that report because the OP came across as an elitist, entitled crank.
To be clear, I don't know SFO777 personally, and based on everyone else's comments, he seems like a well-respected, well-liked veteran of the FT community. But for someone with no prior interactions with him, that was my honest reaction to the report.
Flame away.

In all fairness, I pretty much encounter at least 1-2 DYKWIA on nearly every flight in NA.. I just don't post about it.

i'd agree ua f service on domestic and transborder flights is FAR FAR better, catering slightly better although ua now has real scotch in f now.
that dykwia couple looks very dykwia
but their actions would not have affected me so i wouldn't have pointed it out to erryone
otherwise good trip report
good lord the food at those mlls is awful, even united clubs are looking better
