Hi i59bravo,
We're sorry to hear you had trouble checking in to your flight. Mobile Check-in experienced an unplanned outage last night at around the time of your posting. Service has since been restored. This was not an issue with the new Android app and was isolated to Mobile Check-in. We'd love it if you give the app a second try and if you have issues you can always reach out to us at [email protected].

Thanks for the response. I downloaded the app again and tried OLCI again. This time, it appeared to complete the check in but when I tried to access the boarding passes, I got this error:

Then the app prompted me to check in for my second segment. So I did that. Finally I was able to access my boarding passes, but there are two copies of the boarding pass for the second segment.

I got an update today.

It's still erroring out the wazoo.

If you guys want to hire someone to do some Android consulting, send me a PM.

Although with the exchange rate, I may no longer be affordable :p

They should be able to afford a FP or two in exchange...? AC needs the help.

I'm not sure how much you think I can fix in only a couple days :p

The new app is much better than before - it definitely still has a few bugs/limitations, but the responses I've had back to bug reports submitted via the app have been fast, positive and honest. So it's a great start and I'm confident that it'll improve further over time.

The main thing I'd like to see in future is integration of data from the Altitude and eUpgrade sites into the app, e.g. status counters, eUp credit counts, etc., so that I can view all that data in one place. I was using the CAAM app for this, which did the job in an non-elegant way, but it is pretty broken now. (CAAM hasn't been updated for over a year, which sucks).

It's much more efficient than the website.

I checked in for a flight just now, and it was barely two minutes after I finished checking in and received my eBPs that the app sent me a notification saying "you are now eligible to check in for your flight".

It used to take the website two hours to blow that one.

Well if you want to pay me a reasonable rate for all the work I've done on the app, plus what would be required to get it working again, I'd be happy to push out an update.

But hey, this is the entitlement forum after all.

Sorry, I didn't realise that you developed CAAM. But yes, if you maintained the app and charged for it on Google Play then I would pay for it, as I do for a few other useful apps. However if an app is offered for free - whether the AC app, your app or anything else - is it wrong to expect it to remain functional whilst it is still being offered for download?

Also, what's the rationale of having to create a separate mobile+ login? Everything else just uses your Aeroplan number + password.

This

I mean, come on, you build a whole new app and don't give us that functionality? Jeez.

If I had charged even a dollar, I'd agree.

I wrote the app when there was no AC Android app.

Now there is one. And a really slick Aeroplan app.

I'm not saying I won't fix it. I'm just saying the motivation is really low, especially when you consider if I were to charge a normal rate for the time I'd put into CAAM, I'd have made five figures.

The two parts of CAAM that do not exist anywhere else are the eUpgrade tab and the Altitude tab, and those still work fine.

All day, the AC app has been sending me gate-change announcements for a flight that landed twelve hours ago.

I got 20+ notifications all at once last night (during star wars) for a flight that landed 36 hrs earlier.

Good thing it was on vibrate or I would have been lynched.

Another new issue:

I was trying to change seats on an upcoming flight. I selected a preferred seat that should have been available to me at no charge as an E50 on a Flex fare. The app wanted to charge me for the seat.

Beware if the app asks for money.
