How bout inflight service commencing within 20 minutes of takeoff?
Can we get real time updates when upper management checks into the same 'AC Airport' for an informal open house?

Yes - that's easy to take care of.
Yes - that would also be easy to take care of.

Given that Air Canada cannot even track a passenger flying on their planes, what makes anyone think this could end in anything other than catastrophe?

So, if your visiting Disney Park from either US or Canada you can participate in the Magic Express program that enables direct hotel delivery when you arrive, saving time and hassle at the baggage carousel.

Airlines are in for a massive shock as airport innovations take hold - Jim Cherry, CEO Montreal Airport predicts that soon you will be able to walk through his airport without talking to anyone until the aircraft - anyone interested, PM and I can send you link to video interview
And both border control and transportation security automation is well underway, so these processes will become faster and more reliable that will also shrink passenger dwell time in airports.

Quite simple - DO NOT HAVE THEM DELIVERED TO THE ARRIVAL AIRPORT.

Whether AC invests or not will NOT matter.
Airports are facing their own competitive situation, plus funds for capital improvements are hard to come by from airlines anyway, so process innovation is KING right now at airport authorities. YVR has long been leader with border control advancements, while YUL and YYZ are focussed on flow improvements throughout entire journey.
InTheAirGUy above notes what Copenhagen is doing, and I recently posted elsewhere that Gatwick is now partnering with airlines for a Self-Connect Baggage program so passengers avoid hassle of picking up bag and re-checking into another airline.
These programs ultimately shrinks terminal footprint and footprint at airports is remarkably expensive - the ROI exists and supported by the airline community, if not AC itself.

Old thread, but I recently heard some YYZ gate agents discussing the fact that they could see whether certain originating (as opposed to connecting) passengers had scanned their boarding pass at security. This was in an a potential oversell situation, so they were really trying to figure out how many volunteers were required, and knowing that people had passed through security was useful information.
Very different technology from what was discussed here, but it still fits the thread title.
