Now is about the time of year when Aeroplan would normally launch the Aeroplan Star Challenge promo, like they did in 2012 and 2013.
Here's hopin'...
It's not too much to ask that Aeroplan bring this promotion back, right?

"Star Challenge" Promo on again 7Mar-10Apr 2013
Well, think back to why they ran those two Star Challenge promos (2012 & 2013) at all...it was at a time of flux, when Aimia and CIBC were still negotiating their new 'contract', and with TD on the horizon, on the outside looking in. And they still had the 7-year expiry policy in effect (till they retracted this in 2014??). Aeroplan were raising awareness for their program, and then followed up with several devaluation announcements, to water down the value of these free points that they eventually handed out so easily, to anyone that gave a care to try the 'challenges'.
Plus, more than a few of us surmised that they launched those promos with a hidden agenda, to get an idea of how 'creative' people would be in generating 'free' Aeroplans from their normally behind-the-scene tactics. No doubt there were many people grinding their teeth, seeing their favourite "manufactured spending" tactics for generating points posted for all to see, many not well-known, and thus subsequently getting shut down. Another example of sharing too much info, killing a good thing.
Anyway, in 2014, in lieu of the Star Challenge, Aeroplan had the other promo where they gave 1,000 Aeros for referring other new members to sign up. I read about people on other boards who created 25 'new friends' to get a NA longhaul award, by simply using their mouse-clicks to do their 'flying' for them.
Then for 2015, there wasn't any special promo from Aeroplan. We can hope, but I don't think another Star Challenge or equivalent will be materializing in 2016. But, I'll be glad if I'm wrong.
