I liked the challenge too. Wish they do that again.

"Star Challenge" Promo again? or Website Glitch

5 stars "for every Air Canada flight
segment when you book from March 11 to April 10, 2013 and fly from March 11 to April 30, 2013."

If I recall correctly, last year also included flights booked BEFORE the promo period.

How to earn points with partners on Aeroplan star challenge

E.g., Hertz, Starwood?

Do I need to select the option to receive aeroplan miles instead of SPG/Hertz Gold points? That doesn't sound like a great option (Starwood points are much more valuable)

This one is nowhere near as good as last year's.

25000 points for 100 stars without points.com, and with a limit on Esso... Pass

They have made it much more difficult this year, especially since you are only allowed to have 1 transaction per partner per day and minimum $10. No more camping out at Esso :P

Clearly they learned from last year. No more 10*$3 transactions at Esso in one day!

I have enough flying activity that it really isn't an issue. Nice to receive a 20k bonus.

I noticed that right away as I knew there would be some additional restrictions with Star Challenge II, haha. They could have simply set the minimum at $9 per transaction per day, since the ratio is 1:3.

The other one I noticed is the maximum of 9 stars for the transfers/conversions. That one is a letdown since I have a ton of Marriott and SPG points once again this year.

I have a few flights during the period but they were booked a few months ago, and from the looks of it, they won't be eligible since they weren't booked during the period....

100 stars in 35 days = 3 stars A DAY without an easy way to earn

Probably will have to pass @@

Man, it's easier applying Aerogold and get 15K Aeroplan instead (which I have)

Hahaha they have been drawing up footnotes to this since the day they started last year.

Struggling to decide whether to even try for this. 25,000 is a pretty good incentive, but it will involve many detours. Anywhere with giftcards that can be bought through e-store? I think that would be my preferred route. Daily detours will get dull.

Oh and excluding already booked flights is just nasty. The majority of the majority of people's flights are booked in advance.

Nestlé of course excluded, 1 Star up to max of 5 or 10 would have been nice.

+1

The only way to do this conveniently is through flight segments (which, I suppose is the point). Buying retail would practically mean you're spending at least a few hundred dollars too.

I guess one could go to Esso and Sobeys every day to buy a $10 gift card, but it sounds like a huge PITA considering an Amex application takes 10 minutes and gets you pretty much the same benefit.
