Another cannot OLCI thread
Today I fly AC 9169 (BCN-FRA, LH flight), connecting to AC 877 (FRA-YYZ), connecting to AC92 (YYZ-EZE). Ticket was purchased through a TA.
I cannot OLCI for any of the segments, even thought it is less than 24 hours before all departures. Lufthansa will not let me check in or select seats for BCN-FRA "because the ticket was issued by Air Canada" according to a telephone agent. Great incentive to use codeshare here - get stuck in the middle! But the worrisome thing is that AC is not letting me OLCI for any of its two segments. When I try FRA-YYZ, it says OLCI cannot be used for my booking. When I try YYZ-EZE, it says to check in for FRA-YYZ first. I noticed the ticket was issued on 016 stock, but I don't think that has been a problem in the past. Any ideas of what is going on?
I already know how this saga continues. The BCN Lufthansa agent won't be able to check me in for my AC flights either. When I arrive in FRA, there is a long line at the connection desk. By the time I make it to the front, my 18B seat that I've had for months has been given to someone else and I am in the back of the bus. Brilliant.

Just spent an useless 10 minutes with a phone agent. Apparently I cannot check in because:
- My flight is more than 24 hours away (not).
- I am waitlisted for an upgrade (right).
- My departure city (FRA) does not qualify for OLCI - only Canadian departures do (???).
- It is a codeshare flight (no, it is AC metal).
Where do they find these people?

Transfer desk at FRA the usual zoo. I went outside to the check-in counter, where an elderly gentleman on a Tango fare FOR THE NEXT DAY was trying to persuade the lone agent to pre-assign him a bulkhead for free. That took 15 minutes. I was able to check-in and keep my seat, although the agent had difficulty finding my booking. How hard does this have to be?
Now in the lounge - hopefully all of this will be redeemed at aerolotto...

As has been posted here before (perhaps even by me), when you are upgraded/waitlisted for an upgrade on the second leg of a connection, the system does not know which booking (original or u/g) to associate the first leg with, so it won't let you do OLCI. I was complaining about this very issue with a lounge agent yesterday. The agent said sympathetically "When you have a reservation on two flights, the default is to do nothing" (which strikes me as applicable to many many other aspects of AC IT)

Explains exactly why I can't do OLCI for my YEG - YYC - LHR flights tomorrow.

I hope aerolotto works out for you.

And yes, aerolotto worked (which for a 31 hour itinerary from initial check-in to bags out was a welcome development!)
