This needs to be pointed out. It looks like they are harmonizing with other North American carriers, only its a little better in that they aren't going all the way down to actual miles flown for non-elites.

unfortunately for us, aeroplan is still a far better program than westjets. Until WS comes up with a program worth its salt, aeroplan will continue devaluing.

let's face it.... for all of you who do the couple hundred dollars in taxes 120K miles RTW in F trips, you're not helping the average person who is just trying to go from point a to point B on points.

Personally, I think it's a good move. Either way, all the airlines will be more competitive somehow.... I have no issues flying on a UA code share and paying less but getting the same miles like I did last week. (LAS-LAX-YYZ with the LAX-YYZ being AC metal). Still credited everything fully back to AC. Fare was considerably cheaper.

But then surely Latitude should get 200% and exec 400%. Actually that would balance the recent increases and make it closer to revenue-based.

By screwing everyone else, this is true!

Actually, I mildly agree with this. Whilst it only affects truly short-haul, it makes the laughably easy qualification levels on AC a little bit more challenging. Without wanting to open the can of worms, would people here prefer a 25,000/50,000 qualification threshold?

For those who would qualify for first time P/E on segments flown in short-short haul (ie under 500 miles), apart from getting less into their bank account for the first year, this makes no difference to them (since, for example, 25 x 300m is still less than P entry level measured by miles). And after the first year, they earn the a minimum of 500 miles again.

Given that flying AC is more expensive than UA, if the E threshold became 50000, I'd likely just switch over completely to UA.

Just did YYZ-DEN-AUS on UA (AC codeshare) and received the following:

DEN-AUS 388 07/14/11
YYZ-DEN 776 07/14/11

shouldn't the DEN-AUS have been 500m since I used my AP# and am AC*E?

Elite used to be at 50,000 a while ago. It was dropped to catch more people.

And yes the % boost for premium tickets should be increased to reflect revenue and also equalize with M&M.

Interesting.. do you think that dropping Elite threshold, also caused AC to drop benefits to the tier as well?
