$120 for 20,000 aeroplan miles or $499 for $50,000? CIBC Infinite Gold Visa is $120 for 25,000 miles.. isn't CIBC the best deal?

I was on another forum about a year ago and one of the members said he worked for Amex. He wrote that they were solely concerned about your credit rating and that you only needed to give them a business name to get the card. It worked for me and many other people who posted on that forum. You can also apply through the link on great canadian rebates - if they currently have it listed on their site and get money back. I think I got $65.

I've only seen 15,000 miles for the CIBC Visa, is 25,000 a new promo? Do you have a link to this offer?

Around Dec 22nd. Arrived on the 6th but wasn't home so picked the package up today.

Ancien Maestro: I already have the Aerogold Will cancel in a month or two than consider applying for the infinite later in the year.

If the 50K goes through, I'll only be short 30K for my 2nd Mini-RTW and I'm not leaving for my first one till September

Yes, Aerogold is a better deal. But some of us, like me, already had Aerogold. And you know, greed... I did it.

From my AMEX account email:

Hello Will,

Please do not worry.

You are correct. As per the offer mentioned in this link, you will receive 25,000 bonus miles on the first use of the card and 25,000 bonus miles after you spend $1,000.00 in your first three months of Cardmembership.

I hope this was the clarification you sought.
Sincerely,
I would advice anyone who activates the card to double check what promo there on.

Interesting, I always wondered about that...
Hmmmmm Greed is good!

So...

Aerogold 25000
AMEX Gold 20000
AMEX Plat 50000

Total 95000 for about $740

Thats about $0.008 per mile/points

But I am not sure if it will hurt your credit rating by canceling 2 of them :/

I still can't find the Aerogold with 25,000 mile sign up bonus. Their site says 15,000 and that's all I've seen in the past.

Can someone post a link to this 25,000 mile offer?

So If I apply for the card, get 1000$ in the first month (easy) then when the points are deposited cancel the card (for other interests) i would only be charged a pro rated fee (so lets say 2 months, under 100$? for 50k miles?)

Looking around, and you're right it looks like only 15,000 miles. Funny the sign at CIBC was promoting 25,000 miles (will have to check if you need to open up a personal account). Business line of credit, mortgage, and aerogold card opened together, you get 50,000 miles. CIBC had a promo a couple months back if you transfer a personal account, you get something like 15,000 miles. Wish they would have the promo somewhere on the internet.

Here's the 50,000 point promo

http://www.cibc.com/ca/mortgages/aeromortgage.html

15,000 point bonus for a mortgage, plus receive one point for each dollar of interest paid.

http://www.cibc.com/ca/chequing-savi...ited-acct.html

5,000 point bonus for opening up an account.

http://www.cibc.com/ca/focus/fall-10.../chequing.html

Switch to unlimited transactions and get 10,000 points

Still, no sign of the 25,000 aeroplan point offer.. I like the mortgage and business offer.^
5,000 point bonus for opening up a chequing account.

Just like the AMEX 50k, its only for a promotion so you may have to keep an eye on it.

Did you read the terms? You don't just instantly get 50K points with the card. You have to spend $1K on the card, then wait for your next statement and the points will follow shortly after. It only took RoninTech a couple of weeks but it depends on how fast you spend the $1K, when they issue your first statement and whether you get the $1K in on the first statement.

I have read the terms, I was aware that the second 25k did not come until I spent $1k using the card within three months. I was asking how far after the first use of the card I would have to wait until I received the first 25k (the first use was the day after activation).
