Seems like the award availability shown on A3 is fewer than those shown on UA and NH. For instance, MEL-BKK in J is available on fewer days compared to the one shown in UA and NH. Even PER-JNB on SA is not showing either but they do show some other routes operated by SA. More strangely, it showed MEL-PNH via BKK on the day I searched, but when I tried BKK-PNH directly, then no availability is shown. Not sure if I call them directly, they'll have access to more availability shown on their website i.e. the same availability as UA and NH?
If you need availability for a one-transit itinerary, better to call in and feed them segment by segment, the old fashioned way.

Booked online (January 23, 2018) through the Aegean Tool. CDG to YYZ to YVR on November 20, 2018. Airline is Air Canada with flights AC881 and AC121. Two passengers in Business using 45k miles each (total 90k). Taxes and Fees were €132.86 each (€265.72 total). For the return, booked on same date entirely online through the Aegean site. YVR to YYZ to CDG on December 6, 2018. Air Canada flights AC034 and AC880. In Business, 2 people for 45k each (90k) and taxes and fees were €61.93 each (€123.86 for both). Locators didn't work on AC site. Called Aegean to get the AC locators. Was told that they were the AC locators. Called AC, tried to use Aegean locators, no go, so used the ticket numbers and was given the proper AC locators. The AC agent booked the seats that we wanted. All our seats are lie flat pods. All is good.

I am almost getting a bit desparate with this new tool - before, I have always assumed that the availability shown on united.com (business saver award) corresponds roughly to the M&B availability, but it seems much worse here
I find almost only Air China whereas united.com lists Thai and Asiana as well.By far the best I have found is WAW-SIN-MEL with LOT+Singapore for around 81 euro pp oneway surcharge. All other combinations cost at least twice that, more often 4-5 times that.
Can I assume that there is more availability when calling M&B as compared to using the online search tool? I desperately need a good strategy for this once-in a lifetime use of points:
Going Europe-Australia beginning of January 2019, preferrably to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane - I have already understood that Melbourne has by far the best availability in general of these destinations.
The departure airport in Europe should preferrably be easily reachable from Berlin.

Yes, the Perth routes from KL and Singapore seem very competetive, but we have thought of using them to go home on paid tickets (we have about 175k miles now which would buy us at least a oneway Europe-Melbourne/Sydney in business, maybe even first with Thai if we can make it to 200k within the next months). Then going over to the west coast (Perth), spending a week there and flying home via Singapore on paid tickets.

Using the online M&B tool, I don’t seem to get any visibility of UA flights in North, Central or South America.

SQ805/186 is available pretty much all days in business class. What problems are you facing?

SUF (Lamezia Terme) - MUC (Munich)
MUC (Munich) - ATH (Athens)
Both legs on LH (Lufthansa) and in business class.
25,000 Miles & Bonus of A3 + EUR 122 in taxes + EUR 20 A3 call centre fee (I found the availability of award seats through ExpertFlyer, however the website of A3 showed no availability. The agent at A3's call centre however managed to find the desired seats for me).
Question:
Is there a difference in the amount of taxes one has to pay if you choose to book the same award seats by using LH's Miles & More ? I looked up in the Miles & More site and saw that the same flights required 25,000 miles but taxes of only EUR 73.
