I'm trying to find the terms & conditions of redemption bookings, particularly regarding cancellation charges. Can anyone point me in the right direction!?

EDIT: scrap that, I found them!

It may not actually work for all *A airlines. Today, I tried to book a redemption return LCA-TXL and the booking engine gave me an option only to fly with A3 not LH, OS or LX. For bookings on non-European routes, all *A options are clearly shown.

Asian flights are an extremely good bargain on M&B. Today, I booked SIN-BKK on SQ in X class online for 12,500 miles plus €22.55 taxes.

This route is quite cheap due to low-cost competition. Scoot, Jetstar and AirAsia make it an extremely busy route, and most of the tickets are sold for 30€ or 35€.

What amazes me is the definition of a "region". We can go from Europe to expensive Caribbean destinations for 30'000 miles in Economy or 45'000 in Business: same price as going to the US East Coast because they belong the the same "region".

Example: from Europe to Aruba in Business with Air Canada (or even Copa or maybe Avianca) would be horribly expensive to buy in cash, but is offered for 45'000 miles only

Well, there are always going to be winners and losers in any system and there has to be SOME KIND of system. It can't be based on actual distance as that would have the same problems that you mention. Could it be based on actual ticket prices maybe? I think that would be too complicated.

For every relatively cheap ticket from the extreme of one region to the extreme of another there will be a relatively expensive one that only just crosses a regional boundary. For example, TLV Israel to AMM Jordan is only 69 miles and can be done for 64 Euro (albeit via Athens) but would cost 40,000 award miles, whereas TLV to KEF, Iceland is 3284 miles but would only cost 30,000 award miles.

But you're not really comparing like with like there. The award ticket gets you on TG or SQ and their tickets most certainly don't mostly sell for 35 Euro. They're typically at least 180 and as high as 400, as far as I can see. Now, maybe that's not good value compared to the LCCs (another discussion entirely) but that's what you are "buying" when you make the award redemption, so it's where the comparison of value should be made. Oh and as a *G on an award redemption you would get two (large) free checked bags, totaling 60kg. If you add the cost of those onto the LCC fares, plus a paid lounge access of course, you can add at least another 150 Euro to those 35 Euro fares!

Has anybody tried to book a "sweet spot" award in Asia recently (after the *A award online booking tool appeared)? According to M+B staff, it's no longer possible to make those nice 6+6-hour J trips for 21k points. They say it's a *A change and new policy, so only what we can find online is what can be booked. HUCA didn't work either, so I started believing the best times are gone. Any insights on booking a routing which cannot be found in the online tool?

Good day to everyone!

I would like to redeem my miles to a number of A3 operated flights within W19 (i.e. after 27-Oct-2018).

Based on your previous experience, could someone tell me when does A3 usually start "loading" the flights for next winter in their booking systems. Is it after January ? I kmow that this does not take place concurrently for all itineraries (have realized that last summer when I was observing the "loading" of S18 on a daily basis).

Thank you in advance.

PS @Moderators. Please excuse me if I got a bit off topic here, but I trust you will agree that I am still within the awards redemption boundaries. Thank you.

I'm afraid nobody knows with certainty. Generally they always have the next season bookable, meaning that W19-20 should be bookable when S18 starts (end of march). But the actual loading can take place any time between now and March..

Are you looking for Aegean or *A awards? I would imagine that *A awards become available when the partner airline releases them. Also codeshares may be available earlier, I already saw some LH flights with Aegean flight numbers pop up for W19.

Dear Xandrios, thank you for your response. I am actually looking for A3 flights on the ATH-CPH-ATH itinerary Which are not codeshared (to the best of my understanding) with SK.

Which itinerary are you looking for?

6+6 hours looks a bit long for the far east region. I did ULN-HKG-CGK with Oneworld and it was less than 5h per segment. I don't know a longer itinerary inside the region. Do you have an example?

Thanks
