Does A3 (or SQ in this case) have an overall MPM-limit, or a particular MPM for each route?

My bet is that MPM is based on routes. My own experience on US-Europe is SFO-SIN-IST, that was only possible because TK was offline for a period. Right after TK is online, this route is no longer allowed.

Some routes, e.g. North America-Australia has higher limit than North America-Europe.

Oh that makes sense (your TK-being-offline example). I was more wondering if A3 had an official list of these MPMs. Barring that, assumptions that MPMs are based on the shortest direct routing for an available partner (like in your SFO-SIN-IST example) plus some percentage above, make sense.

So that would explain why it wouldnt show by default but MPM doesnt change when airline is on or off. Hence it sounds like they are not applying MPM but rather the IT, even on the agent side, somehow doesnt show slow/long itineraries if shorter are available

then how to explain why no LAX-SIN-IST or SFO-SIN-any other Europe?

I guess it was temporarily allowed because not enough choices presented.

In this it has been discussed that they have some funky programming. It will show everything it has and then just cut of the list a some point not showing any other options to anyone.
About your question. These a flight that are excessively hard to find award space with any star alliance program. As they don't have economy and SIA is stingy when it come to releasing business place (No PE redemption with A3). Now you want to find 2 back to back long haul SIA flights with business availability. I would love to have your optimism.

Funky or not, it has some predictability. e.g. no east coast US to Europe over Pacific.

SQ's premium class were fully available in the last one or two months. e.g. you could book EWR-SIN-AKL/CHC, which is more than 14K miles, the longest I find which is bookable.

Now it is no longer available as SQ has pullled availability, but it was there and was available.

I think comparing Australia-USA vs USA-europe via Asia is a disingenuous. One is a logical routing while the other one is going around the world the long way.
For the NZ-US route there isn't like there would be huge amount of other one stop options so the engine most likely was more willing just to show it. While EU-US there isn't a shortage.
It would be nice if the engine would show all the options and give some more information but what can you do. It not like there going to fix it any time soon. Good I hate that you have to go out to the account screen if you want to change destination.
Playing with the dates. What I have seen is that it more willing to show via Asia business routings. I have a feeling it because first class is only from/to top markets and they have way more one stop options on these routes and the engine just pushes it off the list.

My award tickets booked with A3 miles cancelled by the airline (TK) for August 12. 48 hours later no miles refunded yet, and taxes (appx 500 usd) will take up to 3 months... yikes!!

May 19: I booked SOF-IST-SFO on TK in Y for 28 JUN - 92.5€ in taxes
June 08: flight canceled. No alternatives offered. Still waiting on a refund of taxes.
June 08: I booked SOF-MUC-SFO on LH in J for 03 JUL - 298.01€ in taxes
June 18: LH retimes flight and screws my connection. A3 refuses to allow an overnight in FRA and only offers to refund. Still waiting for the refund in taxes.
June 22: I booked SOF-IST-LAX on TK in Y for 05 JUL - 109.69€ in taxes (incl 20€ call centre fee which I will try to dispute)
July 3: TK cancels IST-LAX (2 days before the flight?!). After some pushing, A3 offers SOF-VIE-FRA-LAX on OS+OS+LH with no add-collect in taxes.

Lessons learned:
1. A3 gold line answers almost immediately, unlike TK and OS (unreachable) & LH (1 hr wait)
2. A3 can book a 2-connection flight when the circumstances are right.
3. A3 seems to be refunding taxes to others, but it is taking a while. Still waiting for around 400€ in taxes to be refunded.
4. A3 is ridiculously inflexible if flight cancellations occur outside the 48-hour window prior to the flight. Even within 48 hours, they have lazy agents who don't want to do anything and you have to HUCA.
5. Miles are not always immediately re-deposited and you have to push them to redeposit them to have a new ticket issued immediately.

Overall - really poor experience A3's lack of flexibility, high YQ charges, and lack of alternatives when things go bust with other airlines.

The flights turned out to be fine in the end. FRA-LAX was at most 20% full.

Well Aegean has made there search engine worse.
If previously you could see economy next to business next to first class, now it hidden under a tab. So it now harder to find date that have business availability as you have to scroll down the list to find a combination that says from xx miles or something that is more then economy redemption priced.
In short they have taken away the ability to have a glancing view of a date to see if it has something that isn't just economy. Everything else by the look of it is the same.

I just spoke to the agent to cancel my NH F flight, agent said that miles will be return after 30 days! Luckily, I had to book an emergency flight leaving in 2 days, HKG-ZRH-YYZ with LX/AC. The flight was rebook immediately with 40€ fee (cancellation and rebook fee).

Since no trip between continents is on the horizon for the next (quite a few) months and speculating, but mostly hoping, that a vaccine will be made available until next summer, I went ahead and used my remaining miles to book next summer's holiday (in July 2021)...
Outbound: Hannover - Istanbul - Bali (Turkish Airlines)
Inbound: Bali - Taipei - Paris (EVA Air)
Business class for 2 , each passenger cost:
Outbound was 65.000 + 249,56€
Inbound 65.000 + 86,65€.
I think the only cheaper option right now would have been to fly via Tokyo and Jakarta with ANA and then take Lion Air or Batik Air for the short "hop" to Bali, this would have saved around 100€ per person.
Sadly, flights with Singapore Airlines via Singapore had already become unavailable with still a couple of weeks time, before my desired dates were added to the calendar...

Good luck with the refund of taxes, I was promised by Aegean in March a refund by May and i m still waiting. Your promised 3 month could become 3 years, or never ..

BTW tried to reach Aegean call center today about it, and its not answering, just waiting message for about 20mn, then Aegean hangs up on you.. Very impolite from them..
