- Name of the hotel: Sofitel Melbourne

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked Luxury Room, received same room because Hotel was full. Check-In Agent apologized for no available upgrade.

- How are the rooms? Luxury Rooms are located in the corner and offer a fantastic 180 degree View. Bathroom has a nice size and the room itself offers everything you need - very comfy MyBed!

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Amazing view, friendly staff and Club Lounge access as a Platinum Member :).

Bad: See the LCAH Perks

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Yes, all Sofitels in Australia offer now club lounge access as a Platinum Member. The Lounge is fantastic and offers severals buffets a day. (12pm-2pm light lunch, afternoon tea, evening canapes (more like a dinner), evening sweets and off course breakfast buffet & a la carte buffet.
As a Platinum Member you can check-in in the Club Lounge on the 35th Floor.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? No welcome drink given. After i asked for it, Club Lounge Agent told me that there is no welcome drink because i got Lounge access.
It is okay for me (because the evening canapes offer a wide range of drinks) but it does not reflect with what the Accor Website promise...
In the room was a welcome gift (2 bottle of water, fruit plater & some cookies & welcome letter).
I got also a turndown service, but i guess this was more because i was located on the club floor.

Ask for a room which is on the high floors!

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Yes, i will return! Especially because of the Club Lounge!

This was my 2nd stay at the Sofitel. On the first stay i was in a Prestige Suite on the 49 Floor which had also great views but there was less privacy because of the other tower next to the hotel.
I will go now always for the Luxury Room. When you get a room with the number **01, then you have a view to the flinders street station and bay views. And if you're lucky, you receive a upgrade to a Junior Suite which has a Shower & a tube. All other rooms offer only a Shower in the tube. (expect on the level 50 suites ;) ).

Paris

Sad to hear at even a Sofitel where you pay good money for even the cheapest rooms (happily choose to splurge on the legend in Amsterdam instead).
I mean it seems the closer you get to Paris the more likely you will be denied benefits. At the mercure (tours Paris) for our honeymoon all benefits had to be asked for to get anything. Drinks were not forth coming. Room upgrade was not given as they thought we wouldn't like it. So while I was true they could have gone the extra mile or mentioned this at checking in. Sad as its turned off my wife wanting to go back there. The only bright point I will remember was the bar man was very friendly.

Re:Paris: agree, I've stopped trying to use Accor hotels in Paris and now just go with a decent independent via TA. Nice for a change.

A shame really as one would expect the flagships (Sofitel in Paris) to be setting the standard. Apparently Sofitel is the definition of luxury outside Paris only.

Novotel London City South

Novotel London City South

What is your Le Club status?
Platinum at the time of this stay (two nights in March 2016).

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
We booked a "superior room" with a queen bed and got what appeared to almost be an "executive premium" king room (it had a Nespresso machine, but no slippers or bathrobe).

How are the rooms?
Our room was perfectly adequate and typically Novotel.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Acceptable upgrade. Decent breakfast buffet that stays open until 12:00 at the weekend! Location just a couple of minutes' walk from London Bridge station.

Bad:
OLCI didn't save us any time. Had to show physical Platinum card to get drink vouchers. Room preferences from profile not met. Shower installed over a bath rather than a shower tray. There were no grab handles: getting in and out was a little hazardous.

What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
We were given two vouchers, which we redeemed for pints of John Smith's. At check-in we were also given a small box containing two chocolates.

Value for money? Would you return?
We booked a non-refundable "super sale" rate of 87 GBP per night including breakfast. That was good value.

- What is your Le Club status? Plat

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Standard >Suite

- How are the rooms? There is a decidedly 70s feel to the rooms, but they are clean and functional. Bed as always great.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Bed, decent breakfast fare, 2 drinks vouchers used for refreshing G&Ts

Bad: Front desk staff are very slow checking in and out, not exactly friendly either,

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Not open yet

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? 2 vouchers (single occupancy), welcome gift: bottle of wine, sweets and a bag of coffee

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Expensive for what it is but not unusual for the area.

Hotel Ibis Central & Sheung Wan (Hong Kong)

- Name of the hotel: Hotel Ibis Central & Sheung Wan

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked "Standard 1 Double Bed City View" and upgraded to high floor harbor view.

- How are the rooms? Small, as can be expected in Hong Kong, but great economy of space, nice bathroom, clean and modern. Amazing view, although unfortunately it was incredibly foggy during my stay.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Friendly staff, nice rooms, good location, decent value, free shuttle from Hong Kong Station every 20 minutes.

Bad: Many lifts, but slow to get anywhere.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Received two vouchers for welcome drinks upon checking in. Also were allowed late check out, as late as 5pm according to the welcome letter (pending availability), and I was allowed to stay until 4pm, which was nice with a late flight back to Bangkok and miserable windy/rainy weather.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? I thought it was a decent value and would be happy to stay again.

Playford MGallery Adelaide

- Name of the hotel: Playford MGallery Adelaide

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes, most definitely

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked special package rate, AUD$201 including $50 room credit for deluxe room (2 categories up). We were upgraded on check in to spa suite.

- How are the rooms? Slightly old fashioned and a bit dowdy for my taste - and lacking a view. That said, we were incredibly comfortable for our night, upgraded to a suite with a spa and living room and the bed was extremely nice.

- What was good and what was bad? Pretty much everything was great. Excellent service, great reservation staff, brilliant buffet breakfast and incredibly cosy wine bar for our arrival late on a Friday night.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? n/a

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Very generous $25 drink voucher x 2 as platinum, we had cocktails at 9pm in the very nice wine bar.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Loved this hotel, I am huge fan of MGallery brand, will definitely return for sure

- Name of the hotel: Aberdeen Mercure Caledonian

- What is your Le Club status? Gold

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Except for a couple of hiccups, I was happy.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked "Standard Double Room" and upgraded to the "Balmoral Suite".

- How are the rooms? Big, King size bed, small lounge area with a sofa and a coffee table, a large bathroom.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Friendly staff, good location.

Bad:
- Prices of the drinks: 6 GBP for a pint of lager
- I ate twice in the restaurant, the first time I had a burger which must have been the worst I ever had in a restaurant: processed meat, huge patty with no taste, bun too sweet, thick cheese, no vegetables

- I had to fight a bit for the upgrade: I was first handed a key for a Standard double room, as the receptionist claimed there was no room of upper categorie available. I get to my room and noticed the heating was off; the room was freezing cold. A quick search showed there was Deluxe Double room for sale, the categorie just above mine. I went down back and comment both on the heating and the availability for upgrade. The receptionist apologized profusely and gave me the key to the Balmoral Suite. An hour later a card with an handwritten apology came accompanying a platter of cakes and chocolates.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? No lounge.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Received one voucher for welcome drinks upon checking in. The room had a nespresso machine and free bottled water.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Yes. Hotel are cheap in Aberdeen those days and I paid a rate of 55 GBP per night for this stay.

Mercure London Paddington

Mercure London Paddington

What is your Le Club status?
Platinum at the time of this stay (one night in March 2016).

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
We booked an "Executive" room with a king bed, so no upgrade was possible.

How are the rooms?
Our room was in the centre of the hotel, with no outside walls. Instead, there were floor to ceiling windows on two sides of a light shaft. That meant we had a certain amount of natural light but very little noise from outside.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
At check-in, when we said we'd be leaving early and wouldn't have time for breakfast, we were offered a bagged breakfast to take away. We declined, but the offer was appreciated. The location is terrific for Paddington station and the fastest trains to Heathrow -- only the Hilton is (very slightly) better in this respect.

Bad:
A [i]very[/b] minor disappointment: early check-in was not possible (but our room was ready at 14:00).

What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
We were given two drink vouchers, which we redeemed for bottles of Becks in the (very small) lobby bar.

Value for money? Would you return?
We booked a non-refundable "super sale" rate: 113 GBP including breakfast. That was good value for this location and date.

- Name of the hotel: Pullman Liverpool

- What is your Le Club status? Silver

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes, definitely

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Cheapest twin. Got top floor with a view. Don't think it was an upgrade.

- How are the rooms? Very good. It's only been open a few weeks, so spotlessly clean, no scuff marks. Decent size, very comfy beds (though it's two singles not doubles or queens, and they're only 15cm apart), USB charging points in the plug sockets, huge towels and great bathroom amenities. Enormous TV - that actually started on TV when you switched it on, instead of trying to sell you porn. Good wi-fi. Nice view across the Mersey and to the Liver Building from higher-floor north-facing rooms.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Excellent shower. Excellent breakfast. Service consistently attentive, friendly and efficient. Four free glass bottles of mineral water in the fridge - two still, two sparkling.

Bad: Nothing really. Location south of Albert Docks could be better - it's 10 minute walk to Liverpool One and 15 to 20 minute walk to most central parts of the city - but taxis are cheap and plentiful all night.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? N/A as silver.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Welcome drink voucher was awaiting me in the room. Bartender claimed he was doing me a favour by letting me buy two beers with it, despite being written on the voucher that it was valid for two drinks if the room was booked for two, which it was, and my mate was standing there next to me. Still, I guess it was nice that he believed he was giving me a bonus.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? 20% cheaper than the Ibis - one of the cheapest hotels in Liverpool that weekend - no contest, would return in a heartbeat!
